Something I've noticed with Watkins is he's often too focused on the ball while shooting, a lot of his shots he's got his head down looking at the ball, like with the shot straight to Regina's hands, he doesn't really look up to see where the keeper is & hits it straight to him. Personally think he's been very lucky & benefitted from poor defending & goalkeeping quite a bit & his speed has helped, to score what he has previously. If you look at his goals in the Championship, where he scored 25, plenty of them were handed to him really through poor defending & goalkeeping.
I think he's a bit of a Gabby, plenty of speed but once teams got used to the speed he become ineffective when it comes to scoring goals & the same seems to of happened to Ollie, teams know he's not a natural instinctive striker & needs a boat load of chances to finally score so if they can contain his speed they know the chances of him scoring are slim.
02:08, I see Reina hasn't lost his trademark. Don't catch anything. Parry the ball back into the middle of the goal, then try and grab it at the 2nd attempt. It used to infuriate me when he was at Villa, but nobody else seemed to notice.
Even when we lose like this game. You can still see the style of play that’s being implimented by the managment. I genuinely believe Gerard’s coaching tips to strikers were “go up front and give me a moment of magic”
I don't think Mcginn likes passing to Bailey. I've watched them play together more than once and he doesn't pass to him even when he's the obvious option. I think that's going to be the problem with Villa, they don't seem to make the right decisions when making passes.
As usual we are playing well against a good team and still with all the negative comments. Dont forget that Villareal have been playing this system for a few years and know how to stop it yet we still looked dominant, we just got a bit unlucky with a few chances there.
Villareal is a good team and we've shown some good chances, so to possibly get one of their players in for january would be great. We need to work on playing out from the back cause that has happened twice now where we've conceded from playing from the back

Wonderfull Save From Robin Olsen. Aston Villa Defeat Against Villarreal CF In The Villa Park Stadium.
Mcginn finally playing where he is supposed to play
Martinez would of saved that…..! Lots of positives in the game though 💜☮️💙 UTV
Watkins isn't good enough to play up front.
Buendia should have had a pen
Overall a very promising performance last night with plenty of positives to take.
Bring on Boxing Day.
How much were tickets for this – can you not do better promos for Facebook and Twitter
Great effort lads, but yet again Im concerned with how 'Chambers' plays the past few tests, he worries me 😬
Leon is completely unmarked an yall hardly giving him the ball
Watkins is not a natural striker. We need an upgrade in that position in January.
I was at the game and have no idea how you've got 9 minutes of highlights out of this
Nice run out for the players. Emery starting to get a tune out of McGinn.

With a good striker we would’ve battered them

That playing out from the back again still causing problems
a number 9 and right back is what we need
Leon bailey alway running to the wing he afraid to go directly towards goal.
Leon bailey first touch is poor he’s not possessing the ball the righy way
perfectly good goal and a pen not given within 3min of the video, are these world cup refs ?
Apparently while Watkins was having his pre game lunch he missed the fork and ate the table
Loosing never makes u perfect

Mc ginn was clearly getting pulled back in the box and nothing given

Good effort but can't understand the constant effing about at the back. Get rid of the ball !!!
