  1. Yes he isn't as good defensively as Reece James or Walker. But they aren't immune to mistakes as well. Trippier and Walker both make a ton of mistakes. Trent's mistakes get spoken about more than anyone else. At times it feels like there is an agenda against him. I don't think there's a better creator than him bar kdb. His vision and his ability to execute it is almost second to none. Cafu who is considered as the greatest rb wasn't perfect. He was better going forward than whilst defending at times

  2. He can defend for sure. He has saved Liverpool from conceding quite a few times. He's had games where he has locked up top attackers. It's his attention span that's the issue. He switches off at times. I really hope he can fix that up. Because there is arguably no one who can do what he does. He could cement himself as the best rb of all time

  3. For whatever reason guys like Trent & Haaland are always judged by their limitations rather than their strengths. We are seeing generational talents who have the potential to be the best in their position but they’re always overlooked bcz of their negative traits

  4. Trent Alexander Arnold is a generational talent and from solely an attacking perspective, he’s the best right back in the world and there is so much disrespect towards his name as the praise for him should be much louder than the criticism. BTW, I was just talking about attacking ability. Kyle Walker is a very good fullback, but at this stage of his career, he’s not even as good as him, as of right now, Reece James isn’t even in this debate not just because they’re not on the same level, it doesn’t help that his body is made of glass and nowadays he doesn’t even play and you’re not even sure if he can stay healthy for a long period of time since it’s inevitable for him to get injured. Some of the things that Trent does as a fullback is incredible as he has an excellent range of passing, he can create chances from anywhere on the pitch, he’s a great crosser and playmaker, he switches the play a lot and he has very good shooting has scored a lot of goals from outside of the box, he’s a good set piece taker with what he provides when taking free kicks or corners whether he’s shooting the ball or whipping the ball into the box.

Him as an inverted fullback is more dangerous than him as a proper fullback with the way he’s able to drift into anywhere on the pitch and produce his magic on the ball when the team has possession. The fact that Gareth Southgate was mismanaging a player of his ability not knowing what to do with him as with the England national team, he was either on the bench or out of position when he played as playing him as a midfielder at the EUROs didn’t work and he was back on the bench, he needs to arrest himself and never managed a team again and he’s clear that his best position is as a right back as he has more time and space on the ball to do what he does best as a fullback than he does as a midfielder. Under a new manager who’ll better utilize him to his full strengths and him being a better option than what they have in his position and with him being in his prime, Trent is England’s first choice right back especially with Walker aging, James continues to be plagued with injuries and his injury nightmare has shown no signs of ending even after getting surgery, White doesn’t want to play for the national team and Trippier retired from international football.

  5. Anyways, as great as he is going forward, there are people that push an agenda that he’s not an elite fullback and that’s because of his shortcomings defensively and I wouldn’t say that he’s a bad defender, there are moments where he gets beaten very easily 1v1 and whenever he makes a mistake costs his team a goal or is asleep at the wrong time, people act like he’s the only defender to have done that. It’s crazy how reactionary football fans are in a sense that a player can go from world class to mid and that’s because of the limitations they have in their game and different players have strengths and weaknesses and I agree that Trent isn’t the best defensive fullback I’ve ever seen, it doesn’t mean that he’s become a bad player overnight.

It’s a testament to his ability that at the age of 25, he has the most assists from a defender in the premier league and he’s had multiple seasons where he’s had 10+ assists which genuinely isn’t normal, has started multiple champions league finals already, his numbers are excellent as well as he has 100+ G/A in all competitions from the fullback position and he has created a lot of chances at the highest level and this is what he does best. It’s easy to forget that he’s still 25 years old as it seems as if he’s been around forever. He has played a vital role in Liverpool’s success over the years as he helped them win the champions league and the premier league in 2019 and 2020 respectively as bar the Europa League, he has won everything there is to win there and it’s not like he’s a passenger in the team or a good player who was just carried by his teammates as he was always a starter performing well on a consistent basis. In recent years, with the team having some up and down results his attacking exploits have remained the same even though at times his lapses in defense have costed them games. Jurgen Klopp is the reason why he’s the player he is today, so far under Arne Slot, Trent has continued to be an integral player for Liverpool and they have to be doing everything in their power to keep him beyond his current contract as in recent months there has been a lot of rumors linking him with a move to Real Madrid and imagine the PR he would get if he was on a club that boosts a player’s legacy, Trent needs Madrid PR. Regardless of what rival fans think of him, his talent is absolutely generational and I think when it comes to players, we spend too much time focusing on their weaknesses and what they can’t do rather than acknowledging their strengths and what they can do and he falls into that category unfortunately.

  6. It’s the marcelo problem Madrid had and they won titles with him at lb. If all defenders were iron clad, your messi’s and ronaldo’s would not have so many YouTube highlights

  7. Trent is in a class of his own. There has never been a right back like him. He is legitimately a top 2/3 player on his team and is one of the people on his team most responsible for his team when they succeed. After KDB he may be the most creatine player in the Premiership and he's a right back. And in spite of what people say, he's not the defensive liability people say he is. Liverpool use a back 4 but he's instructed to be as offensive as formations where the teams play a back 3 if not more. The reason that worked under Klopp was because of Fabinho. It was his job to cover for Trent when he went forward and coincidentally enough it was Fabinho's last season at Liverpool where everyone was on Trent's case for his defensive frailties and that was mainly because he was having to get 10-15 goal contributions a season and cover for Fabinho at the back who was just awful. Prior to that season Trent was leading the league in assists every season and our defense was conceding the least amount of goals every season. So win win. If you don't play three at the back and you want forward level output from your fullbacks you need to find some way of providing cover. Slot kind of seems like he's figured it out although it's still early days. Trent is the new Hoddle. in 30 years people will look back and say he's one of the all time greats and they wont believe that people ever scoffed at him and they'll wonder why he wasn't England number one his entire career. A lot of people didn't understand Hoddle then and they don't understand Trent today.

  8. The only people that don't rate him are fans of other teams and people that hate liverpool. Us Liverpool fans love him. (especially those who have watched every game since his debut will know how amazing he is)

  9. It says a lot about modern society that when we get players who are clearly very good, they’re always brought down below ones that came before. Trent “can’t defend” and is therefore a worse fullback than others, but in 10 years the next great fullback will be “not as creative as Trent”

  10. The craziest thing is that the criticism doesn’t even come from Liverpool fans. We know what he is, we know what he does, we know why he’s on the pitch, and we love him.

  11. If your clubs want trent alexander arnold, you must pay 100m and more, ok it says much about his quality. He is not overrated. Liverpool don't sell him anyway. He was in back to back final champion league when he was 19 or 20yo. Pilar of the team. He got everysingles trophies. He doesn't need to feel he less, he is the world best right back.
