A game that pivoted on the controversial sending off of Declan Rice early in the second half ended in a 1-1 draw.

Kai Havertz had put us into a first-half lead when he deftly lobbed the onrushing keeper after running onto a Bukayo Saka pass.

We were seemingly in control until Rice was shown red for two bookable offences, the second for time wasting, when the referee decided he had prevented a quick restart.

The visitors soon made their advantage count, and levelled on the hour through Joao Pedro. We had a chance to win it when Havertz raced through on the counter, but in the end the ten men had to settle for a single point.

  1. Arteta, what do you think about one-touch fast ball play in the penalty area? If the players master the continuous coordination play, they will easily score goals and you don't need to buy any more strikers. .. What a waste of money to bring in Sterling.. a player that Pep criticized, Merasca also criticized, Jugen also criticized.. A player who has no ability to develop and score goals, but you brought him back.

  2. Im a Liverpool fan so of course i wish for a loss for arsenal, however i still belive the only reason Rise got a red was cause of the bad first yellow and the fact that the ref is biased or the fact that rise got him self kicked and wanted something for it

  3. Veltman taught us how to "legally" kick someone without breaking the law.

    1. Roll a ball near someone.
    2. Kick the ball and him (make sure that guy is in your kick trajectory).
    3. When a cop comes just claim you're trying to kick the ball but that guy is in the way.
    4. Boom! The other guy got caught by cop while you're free to go.

  4. 1. Is it even a freekick to begin win?

    2. Veltman doesn't take the freekick from where he was fouled.

    3. Veltman threw the ball at Rice who is walking away.

    4. The ball is still moving as Veltman goes to kick it.

    5. Veltman kicks Rice.

  5. I can imagine the emotions and frustration regarding the red card, but imo its great that these unsportsmanlike actions get penalized (yes Joao should’ve seen a yellow as well). And don’t act like Brighton are some garbage team that you would have walked over if not for the red. You lost as a team because of your own actions. And I can assure you, if this situation happend to a Brighton player, it would have been ‘fair’ and wouldn’t get any media coverage at all

  6. I am very surprised that people are discussing the yellow card for rice because it’s one of the clearest I have ever seen. The Brighton Player wants to play it quick and Rice is obstructing him unfairly to give his defence time to get into position. At least in Germany that’s a yellow card in 10/10 cases. Just a stupid action by rice
