I’m unsure Simeone knows how he could have the positional balance of the 3 man midfield with proper central occupation, without Griezzman doing that role like he has done in the past. It will give them less of the ball and make them even more of a reactive team. I haven’t seen Atleti this season yet though so i dont know

I liked how the dynamic between sorloth and Alvarez was today but they need to build chemistry with each other up top. I would put Griezman behind them as a 10 role with Gallagher and De Paul. Llorente and Lino as wing back le Normand, witsel, and Giménez in the back. I love atleti and cholo but today hurt my soul. Unlucky in the first half and parts of the 2nd but overall poor quality from us. It’s only been 3 games tho so I’m not counting them or cholo out. AÚPA ATLETIII

I’m a Barça fan and I do not like cholos style of playing but the football community criticize cholo every time a player doesn’t work ( Felix, gelson martins, Diego jota, Jackson Martinez) but don’t praise him when a player reach his peak with cholo instead we say wow it’s that player credit( grizzi, Correa, Llorente )

I think he’s right , especially when you see that Julian isn’t an aerial threat. To make his game work your gonna need more than just crosses into the box I think even a 4-3-1-2 would be good same midfield trio with greizmann as that 10/CAM role and sorloth partnered up with Julian that would be the best way to play that trio imo. Playing 5 at the back would keep sorloth on the bench and imo waste his talents but take out one of the 5 in the back and add in the additional striker makes there attack far more balanced as sorloth is more of a traditional 9 griezman a traditional 10 and Julian a balance of both. My opinion only maybe i sound stupid idk 🤷♂️

Respectfully I disagree the way Atletico Madrid are playing they are destroying teams in the La liga with the amount of chances they create.
Playing down the middle won’t change anything if you’re creating multiple chances building up from the wing. The issue isn’t creating chances in my opinion.
the main issue is Sorloth, he’s not clinical, very bad at linking up play, not really good at heading the ball, not sure what he’s really good at besides being tall.
