Aaron Ramsdale has joined Southampton in a permanent transfer.
Aaron joined us from Sheffield United in August 2021 and made 89 appearances in all competitions. During his time with us, Aaron was voted into the PFA Team of the Year for 2022/23, a campaign where he was on the pitch for every single minute of our Premier League season.
He also won the Premier League Save of the Month award in both March and April 2023, and played a crucial part in our 2023 FA Community Shield victory over Manchester City, saving a penalty in our 4-1 shootout win at Wembley.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper developed through the Blades’ academy, making his first-team debut at 18. He joined Bournemouth in 2017 and enjoyed loan spells at Chesterfield and AFC Wimbledon, where he won their Young Player of the Year award. He returned to Bournemouth, winning their Supporters’ Player of the Season award in 2019/20, before re-joining Sheffield United at the start of the 2020/21 season – a campaign in which he was named the club’s Player and Young Player of the Year.
A regular for England at youth levels, Aaron won the UEFA Under-19s Championships in 2017, and made his full England debut in November 2021. He was in the England squads which reached the Euro 2020 and 2024 finals, and the quarter-finals at the 2022 World Cup.
Sporting Director Edu said: “We are pleased to have reached a very positive transfer completion with Southampton and Aaron leaves us with our best wishes. We thank Aaron for his performances for the club since joining us three years ago, and we wish him and his family well in their new chapter.”
Manager Mikel Arteta added: “Aaron has been a top professional since joining in 2021 and has made many contributions during his time with us. We thank Aaron for everything he gave to Arsenal and we wish him and his family the best of health, success and happiness in his new opportunity with Southampton.”
Everyone at Arsenal thanks Aaron for his contribution to the club and wishes him all the best for his future.

Love this guy, hope he achieve success like sczezny and martinez
Bad Arteta, as this guy deserved champions league start over Raya last season. He got us there. May he succeed and win big … COYG 🔴⚪
Even with two amazing saves this season..Raya not even Close to his level of saves.. besides positional errors last season and Raya s stupidity cost us 4 points against rivals. Sad to see him go.
We'll Miss You, Ramsdale. Good Luck at Southampton!
Best signing saints ever made.

Arsenal the club that treats great keepers terribly. First Leno then rambo, whos next?
Can’t thank ramsdale enough, the passion he brought to the club is unmatched in recent years , it hurts me that he isn’t our number 1😢😢 get stronger n come back yeah ?
You’ll always walk alone.
God bless you Rambo and more grace
I heard Liverpool fans say ramdale made lots of mistakes but Alison also made mistakes.thanks rambo.
Porque lo vendían era buen portero 😐
I hope they stay up now, didn't care too much for Southampton but I hope he can step into the first team keeper role and keep it in the prem! The least he deserves, such a good guy, such a good personality
