At 17 he was already a huge talent. Physical and passing was already good back those days, that's why Wenger was confident to play him. To be honest it took a lot of time for him to progress because of bad injuries. But he could have been this player 2-3 seasons ago. He doesn't have that Fabregas vision, but he's more of a fighter in midfield, i guess with his struggles he became stronger mentally. If he doesn't go, he'll be an arsenal legend, absolute gem to watch him bossing the midfield.
