  1. The 2018 world cup was actually an anomaly because by finishing 2nd in the group behind Belgium, England secured an easier path (meeting Sweden in the QF while Belgium met Brazil in the QF). Then the Euros followed a similar pattern with the only non Wembley game being a QF against a traditionally "weaker" opponent in Ukraine. As soon as I realized that France would be the QF opponent in the 2022 world cup, I knew we would be getting eliminated in the QF. It was inevitable.

We saw how a coach with a winning mentality operates during the France vs Morocco game. Morocco came out in the 2nd half and were pretty much dominating and had France pinned into their own box. What did Deschamps do? Wait until Morocco equalized? No, he was proactive and made 2 substitutions (including taking Giroud off). The 2 substitutions helped relieve the pressure and ultimately helped get the game killing goal. Deschamps made proactive, in game changes, and that's one of the main reasons that France are in the final again (3 tournament finals since 2016).

  2. If you think Southgate is pragmatic, try Jose Mourinho.

Anyway, if England will have the best squad in 2026, then one proven manager has been overlooked.

Pros: He's won big tournaments while managing one of the best squads. He's won the world cup. He can hit the ground running and deliver trophies immediately.

Con: Actually wants the France job.

  3. None! England cannot have a foreign manager!
Southgate’s needs to go cannot stay!
Rogers, Lamps and Stevie G they not good enough! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
