For me it’s this simple you can’t pick and choose when you play for your country. Agree with harry redknapp. No second chances.
Upto him, no-one elses business. No-one knows what the conflict was. He might not of wanted to be a permanent bench warming like so many others.

Top players are professionals in the toughest meritocracy on the planet. Their career is affected every time they pull on a shirt. An inter national tournament is a showcase for their skills. Southgate presided over an English team in which his methods made great players look like donkeys. White had every right to walk away from that.
It’s a mute point about Ben White , be honest and admit that Southgate would not have played him ,,, sterling , grealish and Maddison should of all been selected and rotated through the group stages but Southgate had his plan to attempt to take every knockout game to penalties rather than win games before penalties and everybody knows this so I don’t see White withdrawing from the last tournament as news …. Now I’ve had a good think about the next manager and I believe that right now at this moment Lee Carsley should be appointed ,, he is familiar with the structure at St. George’s , has had a tournament win already and is familiar with the next generation coming through and most importantly plays on the front foot ,,, it is everybody involved with the welfare of England that has brought the success in getting to finals so it would be a shame to tear this down in favour of a foreign entity or a renegade Englishman when Carsley is ready made … il like Eddie Howe and lampard and terry and pep and klopp but Carsley has got a big trophy on his CV and all the young players coming through on his side .
White is a disgrace for turning down playing for England regardless of who the manager is. The rest of the players went to the tournament and didn't look like they were kicking and screaming. We don't need him, wick of entitled players rating themselves and think they're bigger than the country call up

Irrespective of rivalry. I would not have problems with White coming back. He did not turn his back on England. He turned down the call because of Southgate's failure mentality. Deserves a second chance. If you work hard enough, rewards follow.

He has every right to choose not to want to play under a manager if he didn't like how he played. None of us liked it. Gordon wasted his time, he could have been on holiday. I don't blame Ben. Now he has gone, it will be a different way of play, why wouldn't he want to return? Ultimately it will be up to the manager if he picks him.
