Roberto Martinez is set to leave Wigan Athletic just over two weeks after winning the FA Cup.

Roberto Martinez, the man who led Wigan Athletic to FA Cup victory earlier in May, looks set to leave the club following comments made by his chairman Dave Whelen.

On Tuesday (28th May) Whelan revealed he had given Everton permission to speak to Martinez after the Spaniard asked to leave the club.

According to reports, Martinez told Whelan he was ending his four-year association with the Latics after they dropped out of the Premier League and despite winning the FA Cup.

The British media and various bookmakers have installed Everton, looking to replace David Moyes who has gone to Manchester United, as favourites to land Martinez.
