AC Milan are closing in on the signing of midfielder Youssouf Fofana from AS Monaco. After a lengthy negotiation process, the Rossoneri are now on the verge of an agreement, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Improved Offer from Milan
According to the report, AC Milan have made an improved offer to Monaco, which seems to have softened the French club’s resistance. Fofana, who has been Milan’s top target for midfield reinforcements, is now “one step away” from joining the Italian club.
After bringing in Alvaro Morata, Strahinja Pavlovic, and Emerson Royal, Youssouf Fofana is projected to become Milan’s fourth signing of the summer. Romano stated that Milan have “improved the structure of their offer,” and the deal with Monaco is now in its final stages. The work to complete the transfer is expected to be completed this week.
Fofana Only Wants AC Milan
Fofana’s desire to join AC Milan is also a major factor in bringing the deal closer. From the start, the Frenchman has shown great interest in playing at the San Siro, and his desire has made the negotiation process easier.
Thiago Scuro, Monaco’s Director of Football, has also commented on the situation. He stated that Fofana’s move was indeed close, considering that the player has rarely been involved in training sessions and pre-season matches with Monaco.
Important Addition to Milan’s Midfield
If the deal is realized, Youssouf Fofana will be a very important addition to AC Milan’s midfield. With his experience and defensive abilities, Fofana is expected to provide the balance needed in the Rossoneri’s midfield, especially after some shortcomings that were seen last season.
With the Serie A season just around the corner, AC Milan look set to get a player they have been eyeing for a long time, and Fofana’s arrival could be a deciding factor in strengthening the squad to compete in domestic and European competitions next season.
