Dr. Joel Seedman has amassed a huge social media following off of some very specific principles with resistance training that are… questionable. Let’s tackle it in todays video.

  1. Mannn I had to block seedman, I was literally getting angry seeing his videos, and seeing him spew him nonsense and talk down to anyone speaking common sense. Him saying that “his” 90 degrees was actually a real 90 degrees (was a 1/4 squat) was the final straw. Couldn’t take it any more

  2. Based on his squats 6:52 I'm thinking maybe he means his knee joint is forming a 90 degree angle? Rather than what I think most people would mean, which is that your femurs are parallel to the ground (90 degrees from vertical)

  3. On top of being a clown, that guy is a danger. No need for other evidence than the video where he advocates doing squats while STANDING ON A MEDECINE BALL!

  4. Mitchell I wished what you were saying “He’s only doing this for social media and not at his actual gym” was true. I went to UGA and I’ve worked out at the campus gym and saw him training people the same way he posts videos…. Absolutely wild lol

  5. I have to say, God made me anatomically only able to squat to parallel with full control. In order to squat below parallel, I have to basically relax my legs and sit into it and pause.. I'm not fully engaged and ready to go out of the hole, except for my core still being braced.

  6. Great video. But it's relatively easy to shit on people everyone's sitting on. I wish you had applied the same rigor and frankness when talking about Andrew Huberman. A quick look into many of the studies he quotes reveals that he's spewing a lot of pseudo scientific BS.

  7. Seedman is an expert at bullshit. Engaging with him does nothing as he will only double and triple down on his nonsense. It's just best to educate the masses on what a hack he is.

  8. Most people want the secret to gains so they eat this shit up from Joel.

Its because most people have 0 intensity and work out for 3 months thinking they should be jacked now.

    Intensity + consistency + time = gains

Basic movements work. It's your motivation and intensity that suck!

  9. He's a grade A1 grifter. Things like "in vitro" are to get mouth breathing gym bros to think he has some secret sauce and send him money. The fact of the matter is, like you, Dr. Mike, Dr. Wolf, and all the other respectable people say, the best training is SIMPLE. The basic compounds. Maybe some fun variations on isolation movements. So when a guy comes along with a bunch of bands hanging kettlebells off a bar, he gets attention. "But NFL stars love his training" oh yes, NFL players, the people I trust the most with intellectual endeavors

  10. If I'm not mistaken, he saw one study that said 90 degrees at the knee on the squat had the highest force. He decided that makes anything lower than 90 degrees is bad. Then he extrapolated that to every joint in the body. And then he added a religious element and said that's the way god intended us to operate.
