Westport United took on Talbot United in the semi-final of the FAI Junior Cup in Westport Sports Park on April 27th, 1969, with a trip to Dalymount Park for the winners. Westport United lost the game 2-0. The players involved that day were Jim McDermott, Niall Halpin, Peter Hutton, Tommy Gibbons, Johnny McNally, Frankie Campbell, Sean McLoughlin, John Murphy, Ger Smith, Noel Duffy, Chris Keane, James Moran and Johnny McGinley.
St Francis went on to win the FAI Junior Cup that year, defeating Talbot United 2-0 in the final.
To date, this is the oldest known footage of a Westport United match.
