Simon Thorup Kjær (Horsens, March 26, 1989) is a Danish footballer, defender of AC Milan and the Danish national team, of which he is captain.
With the national team he participated in two World Championships (2010 and 2018) and two European Championships (2012 and 2020). In 2009 he was named Danish Footballer of the Year.
He has a sense of position, physical strength and is excellent in anticipation and aerial play. He is often present in the penalty area during the execution of a corner kick or a free kick to take advantage of his skills as a jumper. The same characteristics are reiterated by Delio Rossi, his coach at Palermo, who considered him “the best defender ever coached in his career”. He is also distinguished by his defense skills.
