A South Korean tennis player had an epic meltdown Monday after suffering an embarrassing second-round loss at the 2023 Asian Games in China, according to the Longview News-Journal.

Soonwoo Kwon, ranked No. 112 by the ATP, lost to Thailand’s Samrej Kasidit, who is ranked No. 636, at Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre in Hangzhou, China.

After Kwon lost the match, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, he took his frustration out on his racket, slamming it to the ground eight times while walking over to his bench.

  1. I’m not a fan of Korea when it comes to sportsmanship but I would be pissed off if I was him. The whole comment section are full of stupid people commenting based on this short clip. Fk killers on the internet. If the comment section would understand the full story then write down their comments lol. His opponent was delaying the match constantly, and the referee is not doing a good job.

  2. I laugh so hard when someone speaks about sportsmanship in support of south korea, south koreans are the worst, yes the worst when comes to sportsmanship spirit and fairplay, I can give more than 50 such examples which happened in international stages, like 2002 football worldcup match against Italy, several cases of use of hands to hit opponent in Taekwondo, one time severely injuring a Taiwanese athlete's vocal cord but the judges present at that event didn't disqualify the korean athlete, several cases of slapping, biting and other unruly behavior in Judo, Wrestling, Ice-skiing, Wushu etc.

  3. reading all these comments from people that aren't even attempting to find out WHY he is angry. he is upset because since he did not earn a medal here, he now he has to forfeit his ranking and enlist into the military. otherwise he would have been exempt from service. after tirelessly working so hard every day to reach a ranking as high as he had, then having to totally stop that progress, you would be quite upset as well.

  4. he did it cause he is going to military after this lost… he is going there for 1.5-2 years 😭😭🤣 In korea males between 18 to 28 needs to go to millitary expect those who won asian games 😭🤣 or they have medail in olympic games 😂😂😭 I would to the same if I was him 🥹

  5. The other player took a fake medical break when he was down a break. That is simply cheating and breaks the momentum of the game. Kwon lost after the game resumed and that's why he's po'ed. Frankly I think it's definitely justified. The Thai player should have been disqualified.
