ENGLAND lost the EUROS 2024 to SPAIN at BERLIN on 15th JUL, 2024. The Match exposed the huge amount of WEAKNESS that is there in the ENGLAND FOOTBALL TEAM. Also the HARRY KANE CURSE continues, as KANE is still trophyless.

SO the question remains, WHY EXACTLY CAN ENGLAND NOT WIN?? WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH ENGLISH PLAYERS, JUDE BELLINGHAM, HARRY KANE, BUKAYO SAKA and the Rest.

England is one of the Greatest Countries on the Planet when it comes to sports. Be it Cricket, Football, Formula One, or Tennis. The United Kingdom is always at the forefront of any major sport that you can think of that is played worldwide. Two Time World Champions in Cricket in the last 5 years, 7 tIme world champion in Formula One with Lewis Hamilton, Two Time Wimbledon Champion with Andy Murray, and yet only one FIFA WORLD CUP that too won with controversies almost 58 years ago back in 1966.

In fact in the entirety of their history, or if I may quote in the entire history of Football, the brits have won just one trophy and that’s the 1966 world cup. You might be shocked to know that after this the second best honour they have are three runners up places in the EUROS, one in 1968, and two consecutive in the last two editions, and a third place in the 2019 UEFA NATIONS LEAGUE, which in itself is often termed a friendly international competition, pretty much wraps up their entire football medals.

On 17th October, 1973, England played Poland for the 1974 World Cup Qualifiers. Thirty-six shots to Poland’s two. 26 corners. Six efforts either against the woodwork or cleared off the Polish line, and a string of increasingly preposterous saves by goalkeeper Jan Tomaszewski. The match ended in 1-1 draw, England lost their spot for the 1974 Edition of the WC. Events like these sometimes really make me believe that it’s not always that a team plays badly, but when lady luck is not with you it’s really difficult to make that understand to the rest of the world.

Now I am not making this video to promulgate superstitious ideas, also you might be asking the question like why exactly am I bringing these decade old events now, how is it related to the present demise of the “Three Lions”, and you will not be wrong to ask that question. The thing that I was trying to do so far was to connect the dots and string a pattern.

It’s not like that England have been always playing bad football for the past 60 years, sometimes they play well sometimes they don’t, that’s the case with every other team. But there is a final bead to this historical string which will give you the big picture of what I am trying to portray.

And that’s their lack of adaptability, let’s go back to June 27, 2010 at Free State Stadium, Bloemfontein, South Africa. It’s Germany vs England at a world cup knockout stage once again The England side has received, and ignored, many footballing lessons in its history, but none would have been more chastening than the refresher course given out for free by Joachim Low and his men in this match.

For decades, England had prided itself on a physical, direct style of play. They were the masters of the long ball, the set piece, and the aerial duel. It was like they had a copyright over this style of play. And this lack of flexibility to adapt to different strategies to counter the strengths of the opponents made them go into rubble.

Because turns out Germany could do all of these things, but just much better and with far more competence which resulted in a final scoreline of 4-1. Now if we look at these three situations that I have mentioned from my history class, the three contrast each other heavily, whether it be succumbing to composure at high pressure, or doing everything you can but with dumb luck, or a more tangible and direct problem like lack of dynamism.

There have been different reasons for England’s trophy drought over the last six decades, some issues which are uncontrollable, while some due to definite lack of quality. Now if you were watching this video so far in hopes of getting a single word answer for England’s demise, then I am sorry disappoint you but no such reason exists, not just in this case, but in 99% of real world scenarios.
There have been multiple causes of failure, mostly isolated from each other over the years, three of which from broadly different categories I brought to this video, just to highlight that it’s not like ENGLAND were never playing good football. Sometimes, they were, sometimes they weren’t.
