During a closed-door training match between Wolves of the Premier League and newly-promoted Serie A club Como, Wolves striker Hwag Hee-Chan was racially abused by a Como player who allegedly called him “Jackie Chan”, prompting one of his Wolves teammates to throw a punch at the offender and Como to defend their player’s remarks in a horrendous statement. Rick Strom breaks it down. Give us your thoughts in the comments below!

Bruce Lee!!!
Im not surprised by anything Serie A fans do
“I’m okay with racism against Asians when it comes to college admissions but not soccer.” -Rick
But Mirwan Suwarso is himself southeast Asian.
0:50 "remark at Chan."
What? His name is Hwang Heechan. Hwang is his family (last) name; Heechan is his given (first) name. You either call him Hwang or Heechan. You don't call him Chan. It's like calling someone named Michael as Chael. C'mon, white people!?!?!?
If only people knew the racial 💩 they is thrown around 🏈 locker rooms…be horrified lol smh..
Italian club managed by Spanish = Racism on steroids.
Disappointed that Fabregas would allow that to happen on his team. He was an idol of mine growing upas a black Arsenal fan. 🤦🏾♂️
FIFA and the FA occasional give out fines for this sort of behaviour. It’s usually about £5-10 grand. This is to players who earn up to £150,000 a week. It’s barely a punishment and not even close to a reprimand. The players who do this should be banned from playing for a year or two years. Given the short life span of a professional footballers career then maybe this will wake them up to not doing it anymore. As for fans who do this, I don’t really know what you can do. Docking the team points or stadium bans only punishes the collective because of the behaviour of some dickheads. Anyone found doing this sort thing though should (and usually does) receive a lifetime ban from attending any game.
The one thing soccer is gonna do is remind asians and africans of how they are really viewed especially when asians and africans love to worship their colonizers.
It's Italy. Why is anyone surprised😂?
Wow Argentina footballers are racist? Even Messi??
I want to know why its only people of European descent who are unable to debate the issue without resorting to racial epitaphs when a dispute arises in sport.
I'll wait.
Action star!!! Choreography of HIS own FIGHTING TECHNIQUES – Jackie DOES ALLLLLL OF HIS OWN STUNTS! Almost Broken all of his body SKELTON more than once! And lives to tell the tale!
ARGUABLY ONE OF VERY ,VERY FEW REAL ACTION STARS! Bruce lee also did the same! And Tom cruise! …there are others ,but not quite like these guys.which are stars! In their own rights.
Talk about missing the point!! 🤦🏽♀️ 🤦🏽♀️ 🤦🏽♀️
The guy basically said,
"Channy thinks he's Jackie Chan"
That's not racist.
Podence is a little guy but he’s very brave and a great team mate and human being.🙏🏻
Racism really is the stupidest thing in the world. What does pigmentation has to do with a person’s value? Let’s move on from this retrograde and prejudiced thinking.
This is insane. Let’s give dude benefit of the doubt and wasn’t done with bad intentions. Once you hear you have offended someone you then apologize and say you will do better going forward. I could see how wasn’t meant in bad way. The issue is once found out it upset the player not apologizing shows it was meant in the worst way.
How is this anti asian? I don’t get it?
One difference between American and European stadiums; if someone is racially abusive in Europe you actually aren't stop play and get them kicked out immediately…you're expected to take it and "report to authorities" who then go on to do nothing. Imagine 1000s of folks who normally wouldn't spew certain things 1-on-1 but now they can chant and say anything they want and even your teammates (especially in Italy and Spain)will expect you to take it. That's why a Como player didn't see anything wrong with mocking someone's heritage, because Wolves play in England anyway and he didn't expect anyone on the Italian side to call him out.
Your father don't share the batroom with black people, and the actual fame of you people and police, fix your country and later complaint about the others.
Thierry Henry owns COMO,WHAT AN IRONY !
Hi, Wolves supporter here, I've got a feeling that what happened wasn't just an innocent remark that wasn't intentionally racist – the reaction of the Lads & O'Neil kind of makes me think that there was a lot more to it – I really don't think Podence would have thrown a punch & been sent off if there wasn't a genuinely nasty & racist element to it, I wasn't there so I'm not stating my opinion as fact – I'm just going by what I know about our players & gaffer – to be honest, I'm a bit gutted that so many people are immediately jumping to the defence of Como f.c. & the player in question
An Italian club where racism runs rampant, oh my God unbelievable and unthinkable 🙄🙄🙄🙄
It happens because they allow it to happen and it’s not an issue for them. Hit them in the pocket, that works.
No one is more racist than Europeans …
It’s insane how they call every Asians chink out in public and not bat an eye.
Girls especially cause they know they wont stand up for themselves. 😢
If correct then that is not a racist comment made by the defender at all. Its in no way racist or derogatory. Maybe Hwang was actually being a dick, he is a physical player, and a good one at that it must be said. But to state, " ignore him he thinks he's Jacky Chan" is no more racist than "ignore him he thinks he's Mike Tyson" would be racist referring to a black player, let's say Romelu Lukaku for example, in a similar situation. It's merely context. For a white guy, Jean Claude Van Damme or Chuck Norris ( or if you were a 3rd division player Steven Seagal). The above are all interchangeable Hwang/ Norris, Lukaku/ Van Damme, Me/ Jacky Chan.
Unfortunately, if all you see is skin colour, and all your definitions are based on skin colour and all your language used focuses on skin colour then maybe its yourself who is racist because your absorbed in your inability to see past skin colour.
Hwang might simply be a dick, just because he's not white does not mean he is immune from criticism by white guys. Because he's not black does not mean he cannot criticised by black guys etc etc. and because I don't like kpop doesn't make me immune from a slagging by Hwang.
Grow up FFS.
So you expectation was what? for them to cut the player without asking what happened??…oh right, I frogot you tend to think and try to portray everything as being racist or derogatory.
It will end when the sun get hotter
