      Wtf what has he done for a Knighthood?! Paisley didnt get one and he was the first, and ONLY, English manager to win THREE European Cups. Southgate has won NOTHING.

      This is the same guy who said we don’t have a natural replacement for Kalvin Phillips that’s why we’re struggling. Imagine being Mainoo and Wharton and hearing your manager say you’re not up to the standard of Kalvin Phillips. Talking about Kalvin Phillips like he’s Lionel Andres Messi.

      Let's look at the facts. First, Southgate cannot be considered a great manager since he hasn't won any major tournaments. Second, England's play under Southgate was mostly boring and overly defensive. Despite having some of the best players in the world like Bellingham, Foden, and Harry Kane, he couldn't beat a weaker Spain side. Based on seasonal statistics and overall play, Spain had maybe one or two players, like Rodri, who could make it into the England team. The difference was Spain had a better tactical manager who played to their strengths. While Southgate is a great guy and a good man-manager, he failed as England's manager given the talent at his disposal and the relatively easy fixture list. Before managing England, his only notable achievement was getting Middlesbrough relegated, and I doubt he'll manage a winning team in the future. Southgate's perceived success is largely due to favorable draws and moments of individual brilliance from players. Remember, England was 30 seconds away from going out to Slovakia until Bellingham saved the day. That performance, up until the 94th minute, was worse than the one that got Hodgson sacked after the Iceland game. A competent manager would have set up the team to play to its strengths and easily beat teams like Slovenia, Slovakia, and Denmark. The fact that our first shot against Slovakia came in the 94th minute speaks volumes. Southgate has been lucky, but not particularly good.

      I agree the England manager is allowed to flop the first tournament to find out what works or doesn’t but they must be a lot better the next time

      Southgate is SO over-rated!!! World Cup 2018, we got 10 points out of 21 (mighty Tunisia 😂, even mightier Panama 😂 and Sweden = 3pts each and Colombia 1pt after 120 minutes, eventually squeaking through on penalties. We lost to Belgium TWICE and Croatia – a country of 4 million people – in the SF!)

      In this most recent Euros, we got 12pts out of 21 (3pts from Serbia, Slovakia and the Netherlands = 9pts, Slovenia, Denmark and Switzerland 1pt each, although finally triumphing over the Swiss in a penalty shoot-out. When we came up against a quality Spain in the final, we had our arses handed to us!

      Southgate has been an unmitigated failure and people who think he’s been a success and should even be knighted are not looking at the data!

      Considering the Scottish female presenter made a speech before the final wishing bad luck and misery for the England team, I think she's the last person who's opinion should be taken seriously regarding Southgate getting a Knighthood.
