  1. MHS with an outstanding run there – felt like a 43-something has been a long time coming and to achieve that just ahead of Paris is brilliant. Also credit to Charlie Dobson running 44.23 to go 2nd all-time on the GB list.

  2. Been watching Matty for years. Always knew he had it in him. He's fought back against a lot to get here. Excited to see what he does in Paris and beyond.

  3. He should have taken the opportunity to reduce the time even further, unless he believes he's got more in the tank. After going through the rounds in the Olympics he may not have enough strength left.

  4. Matthew Hudson Smith is finally fulfilling all those years of potential he showed nearly 10 years ago, he legitimately stands alongside the current elite 400m runners and he's still improving and peaking perfectly for the Paris Olympics.
He could've run an even faster time but was already pulling up clock watching the for last 5m.

  5. Very rare that a british athlete set a meet record at a diamond league event. I think the track is fast in London few athletes ran PB at meet.

  6. The GB relay 400 metres running order to win the gold medal.

1st lap – Alex Haydock Wilson. Great start. Another season's best.

2nd lap – Sam Reardon. Even faster. Another great run. We are in with a great chance.

3rd lap Charlie Dobson. Goes even faster. He takes the lead and pulls away strongly to create a big gap.

4th lap – Matthew Hudson Smith. Goes faster than ever before. Turbo charges right through the line with a dip and smashes the world record.

    Fast. Faster. Faster. Fastest last.

GOLD and the World Record. 🥇🥇🥇🥇

  7. What a great run. I'm glad an American got a good piece of this fast race. Happy for Norwood's PR. A guy ran 44.23 and was not the first Brit in a race and makes their 4×4 a cause for concern for everyone else. Richards now has his eye on sub-44 to go with his sub-20. The 2012 Olympic champ ran 44.38. That is longevity. I don't remember so many great right-before-Olympics performances. I am not referencing any of the other outstanding 400s run recently other than this sentence. It is shaping up to be a standout event and the 4×4 by association. I need to see what happened to World Champ Antonio Watson.
