Should Man Utd Sign Manuel Ugarte or Joao Neves?

  2. Neves is the kind of player that shines for title winning teams. Both Ugarte and Neves would be great but Neves is a must. These guys don’t come round often… and when they do they’re normally snapped up by Real, Barca or City.

I’ve just heard that Sancho, and possibly Bruno are going to PSG. Whilst I wouldn’t want to lose Bruno… if it’s Bruno or Neves then I’d take neves. Maybe then we can have a proper 3 man midfield, rather than a double pivot and a 10. Also, we are potentially really strong at 10. Mount, Diallo, Zirkzee and Mainoo could all play in the 10. Bruno is getting on a bit, but he’ll play deep into his 30’s imo. We’ve got some fantastic young attacking midfielders about to make the step from the unders as well.

    Neves is the one!

  3. Ugarte more experienced and cheaper also we have a very young team already need experience in the middle of the park either way both elite players for now tho ugarte is the man for me

  4. Sometimes it is not about the cost or stats. If Utd try to go in for Neves, a player they have scouted for more than half a season, they risk not getting Neves AND upsetting PSG, and not getting Ugarte.

  5. i question the stature of the midfield if it's a neves/mainoo or mount setup with bruno further upfront. so conventionally ugarte will seem like a better mix with him being the defensive specialist, mainoo being the water carrier and bruno being the playmaking wildcard. but this seems to be the era of the deep lying playmaker, and all the big clubs around europe have them. in the epl, manchester city has the best in rodri, and stones and akanji can also step up and do the job. arsenal has partey/jorghino and even odegaard dropping deeper to facilitate and now calafiori can step up. newcastle has guimares, liverpool's szoboszlai and macallister are taking turns to do it. even postecoglu has created a brilliant blueprint forcefeeding bissouma the ball and letting him use the interplay with sarr to progress the ball. so maybe neves is the one they should sign and build around (maybe in future windows replace bruno or even mainoo). these deep lying maestro types are rare and also dying out.

  6. Hey bro i love your videos..

can you do a deep dive on both collyer and maxi oyedelle?
Can they upgrade to first team level? Thanks

  7. thank God i finally heard someone else say Ugarte isn’t just a ball winning midfielder even tho that’s his main attribute he’s quite decent in other areas as well.

as of right now i’ll take Ugarte if PSG are willing to accept below €60 million.

for this transfer window i only see use getting de ligt, ugarte, and a LB deal done. unless we have a lot more out goings i don’t see us doing more than that.

  8. Utd can easily sign both Fofana & Amrabat combined for 40-50 m, rather than spending 60-70 m on Ugarte. Ugarte is quite a risky player, too much hard tackler, gets carded too many times, not a great passer. If you wanna spend that much money on a single player sign Zubimendi. Fofana, Zubimendi are far better on the ball than Ugarte.

  9. I like Ugarte but he have his limitations and Neves are more likeley to end up in PSG. I would like MAn United to go for the swedish midfielder Hugo Larsson who have been excellent this season in Bundesliga. Able to play both as a central and defensive midfielder, Larsson is quite capable both in progressing the ball for his side as well as winning position and transitioning from defence to attack. The Swede has a strong ability as a ball carrying midfielder that is complemented by his ability to run relentlessly for his side across 90 minutes.

  10. I like that you appreciated Ugarte's progressive abilities. Most people think that he is just an aggressive guy who only excels at running around.

He is actually pretty good in possession. Though I do agree, Neves is better in this regard.

Either would be superb for us though.

  11. CDM is such an important position. Consider the big drop off once Barcelona replaced Sergio Busquets with Oriol Romeu. I hope we can get a good replacement for Casemiro.

  12. As a portuguese and someone who saw both play dozens of times i can tell that they´re very different players, Ugarte is a pure 6 while Neves can do the role but is more of an 8, last season he got better when Florentino returned to the team to play the 6 role.

  13. I think one reason why Ugarte's progressive carries at PSG is so poor is because he plays as a sole pivot, which seems to make him more cautious. His ball carrying technique passes the eye test imo, and definitely think he can become a great ball carrier if he plays in a double pivot instead

  14. I think Benfica are inviting us to bid just to raise the Neves price by another 10-20mln. So £70m is likely only a deal PSG can do with no other competition.
It’s possible we might be then able to get Ugarte for 42 and maybe sell Sancho for similar. We’re also maybe in for Xavi Simons for loan plus say 50/60 obligation in 2025.
The Sancho sale could unlock funds for say a Nico Williams whose buyout is 50 plus taxes and Barca are struggling to make it work.
Finally if PSG came in for Bruno between it all you have upgraded your wings, replaced Bruno with someone much younger and got your DM all for maybe 20-30m and two players gone.

  15. I really don't rate Joao Neves at all, he fails the eye test for me and his numbers compared to Ugarte are not impressive. He is a spicy Herrera. Benfica is once again committing daylight robbery if they get over 60 mil euros for him.

  16. Neither, as one isn’t good enough and the other one is too expensive. Neves is a far more complete player and there’s obviously a reason why they’re looking to upgrade.

  17. wow, Casemiro was not good last season but not as bad, he defensively good, 1% blocks, 2% clearance, 8% tackle, 5% aerial, not to mention he play as CB couple of time, and CB behind him was Maguire and Evans most of the time. yes he slow down alot and make couple late judgement, and both of this guys are young and faster but i dont think they better than Casemiro as CDM. the main problem with Casemiro is his wages, and actually last season i feel like he's feel unmotivated than finished physically.
