  1. Should have resigned years ago. Coaching 1980,s football way out of touch.
The team couldn't run more than 20 meters and spent more time passing the ball backwards rather than forwards.

  2. The fact is Gareth Southgate has achieved more as an England manager in Europe than any England manager before. Personally just think the wrong team was picked and the tactics wasn't great unfortunately we got out played on that day against Spain maybe we can go all the way in the world cup

  3. He played in four major Tournaments, he had the most luckiest routes of all time. Never played Brazil, Argentina or Portugal. Played Belgium in group stage and 3rd place playoff and lost both. Played France, Spain and Italy once in them 4 Tournaments. 2 of them in the Final and 1 in the Quarter Finals. Where he lost all 3. So the only teams of note, he beat in 4 Tournaments was Germany and Holland. He has no experience at winning big trophies as a player or manager. He won 2 League Cups as a player, never played for a big club. Only managed Middlesbrough who got relegated with him in charge. He has never played under any top managers, like Jose, Sir Alex, Wenger, Ancelotti, Pep etc. So he played negative defensive football, which was not what most of these players are use too. Stones, Walker, Trent, Bellingham, Saka, Rice, Kane etc. all play for teams that play on the front foot, who try and dominate possession and attack all the time. Teams that always look to pass forward, make quick passes and attack at will. Yet they are being told to play a complete different way. A top manager, who plays attacking football, would of won a Tournament with England out of the last 4. There is a reason why, since the Premier League began, we have never had an English manager win it. This is the most easiest time, to win a big international tournament. It’s not like decades before, where Brazil, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Argentina, Portugal etc, had tons of Worldclass players in every position. England had the best group of players, yet the manager set them up wrong, played negative football and didn’t drop poor players, who were not performing. He also needed game changers from out wide, he felt Grealish, Sterling or Rashford were not the answer. He decided Trent was not worth playing, with his set pieces, passing accuracy etc. It worked with him in centre midfield with Liverpool. Bellingham was on fire with Madrid. Foden was unplayable with City last season. Palmer was the man in form, who showed he was capable when he came on, yet Southgate never started him. He had Toney and Watkins, yet started Kane every game. This is down to the manager, people called it before the Tournament. Nobody cares about runner up, only winning is success.

  4. Anyone but Potter!

His friendly PE Teacher act may have worked in the lower divisions of Sweden but he showed at Chelsea that he's not the right man to manage top-class professionals.

Apart from getting a couple of promotions in Sweden, what has he actually achieved in football?

He finished mid-table in his one season at Swansea, who, incidentally, got to the play-offs in the two seasons after he left, his Premier League win percentage at Brighton was very similar to Chris Hughton's and, like Swansea, Brighton were better off without him and he had a nightmare at Chelsea and has been out of work for about 18 months!

Having said that, he's got "FA Man" written all over him and I would be amazed if he didn't get the job.

  5. Before Southgate’s arrival England had won only seven knockout games at tournaments since 1966. The team won nine during his tenure. That's all you need to know. Thank you Gareth! 👍

  6. Why don’t England go absolutely left field and hire someone like Bielsa? He demands bravery and demands that teams impose themselves on their opponents and looks like he has no respect for reputation. He has an all action, high energy style of play which is what English teams over the years haven’t been known for. I’d do it!

  7. Bring back Big Sam. He did brilliant when he managed England for 1 match. Gary should be the No.2. He did brilliant when he managed in Spain for a few wet days. Buy British and buy the best !!
    🤣😉

  8. Is England so starved for success, and so used to failure, that they see mediocrity as exceptional? Considering the talent on hand, they should have won at least one trophy in his time in charge. I'm sure he's a nice person, but he was only an OK manager. His tactics (or lack of) held this squad back.

  9. Why is Gary so concerned about getting an English coach instead of going out and getting the best coach possible? Makes absolutely zero sense. Whoever is hired is very like locked in for the next 2 major tournaments. The following world cup in 2030 will be about the earliest a new manager could be in. Are you really going to risk wasting a generation of young talent because you arbitrarily want to hire an English coach? It's ridiculous to me.

  10. 100% Southgate should be given a job in the FA. We would be mad to let his deep understanding of the English game go to waste.
