The signing of a new right-winger looks to be on the agenda for Newcastle United this summer.
Eddie Howe is reportedly keen to land more new players before Newcastle begin their Premier League campaign at home to Southampton next month, with a new winger said to be something of a priority.
With Callum Wilson back in pre-season training and potentially staying, focus may shift from chasing a striker to trying to land a new option on the right.
Naturally, plenty of names have been linked. West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen has frequently been touted as a target, while Wolves star Pedro Neto is thought to be under consideration.
Leeds star Crysencio Summerville, hailed as “exceptional” by former Toon striker Michael Owen during his time in the Premier League, is another name linked with Newcastle.
According to page 7 of the supplement in the print edition of the Sunday Mirror (14/07/2024), Leeds will allow the 22-year-old to leave this summer after missing out on promotion.
They suggest the Dutchman is in fact deemed likely to leave Elland Road and is weighing up his next step amid interest from Newcastle, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Paris Saint-Germain.
The interest in Summerville is nothing new, with the player linked with a move away months ago, too. Interestingly, he is believed to share the same agent (Wasserman) as a lot of individuals already at St James’ Park.
Quite how much of a role having the same agent as Howe, Harvey Barnes and Lewis Hall would have in Newcastle’s pursuit of him is up for debate but it can hardly hurt their attempts to get a deal over the line.
