Great vid Dan. Very interesting. Bit of a coup getting Henry & he like serms like a decent chap too.
I think TAA was a bit of a scapegoat in the first two games.
England played very well in the first half against Serbia then sat back. TAA was off c.65 mins. Did England improve because he went off?
V Denmark. England score then sit back. TAA sets up Saka for a goalscoring chance then get took off 2 mins later on 55 mins. Did England do much better when he went off?
Obviously there was a massive improvement without TAA in the third game in the 0-0 draw v Slovenia (lowest ranked team in the group).
Then we played great without TAA when England were saved with a last minute goal v Slovakia and managed to get through in extra time.
V Switzerland England played alright but only went through on pens.
V a not great Dutch team England played well in the first half albeit with the aid of a dodgy pen and then got pushed back in the second half before getting a last minute goal when it looked like going to extra time.
I dont really think TAA has been the reason for sub-par performances by England and I'm not sure England are that much better than at the start of the tournament.
We havent really comfortably won any games yet.
Where is Paul Maychin these days?
Anyone else feel like Kobbie Mainoo isn't that good? Everyone talking anout him like he's the best player they've ever seen…
Need to accept that there is no place for trent as long as Southgate is the manager. A player thst is insticntively progressive and risk taking will never work for a conservative and risk adverse manager. Its nothing to do with walker's form, whose has been utter shit this tournament.
why play a 0-0 type game..get trent get balls into the box
I'll explain the issue with Trent at England. Southgate knew for a fact that he was being polarised massively, and he knew the bad performances were being blamed on him, so he played into that and followed the crowd.
He's weak minded, and he saw a way to take the pressure off himself and grabbed it. Oh it's been an experiment and because it's went wrong that's why we've played so badly. It's an absolute joke the way they've treated him and blamed him.
Trent was not a single part of why they played so badly first 2 games. It was the forward line, and the tactics that were the problem.
All you have to do, is look at how rice played in that same 2 games. He was just as bad, if not worse than Trent. Did Southgate scapegoat Rice? Of course he didn't.
Trent was the easiest target to take the pressure and attention away from Southgate, and he took the cowardly way forward.
When debating the english fans that fully believe it was all Trent's fault, I ask the simple question: who played better than him in the first 2 games? They NEVER have an answer. The answer is always a politicians answer, dismissing the question and talking about something else.
Trent is, without doubt, the most talented player of all the England midfielders barring maybe Bellingham.
He played decently but made 1 mistake that almost cost a goal, and that was polarised again.
If England had a manager that knew how to use Rice, Trent and Bellingham properly, that 3 would destroy every midfield in the world no question.
The fireworks going off in Liverpool after England got knocked out😂😂
Lots of waffle from Henry WInter and not an answer how Trent did in the Euros..
Trent has been criminally underused the whole tournament. Fingers crossed Southgate gets the boot and someone comes in that isn't so determined to play on the back foot. Someone that actually knows how to press in the game.
Shocking that Kyle Walker and Trippier were used for most of the tournament with barely a sniff for Trent.
Shows that Gareth is clueless and prefers defensive players.
English managers are not tactically and technically good enough.
They respect running hard, tackling, defensive skills more than creativity.
Ok ok so it's raining feckin ell you never seen rain before it's a footy show not a weather update
