Euro 2024 Final Recap: What Went Wrong for England & Spain’s Key to Victory! | Morning Footy

we can talk about the effort that England put forward but truth be told guys that it just felt like Spain were the better team on the day yeah I think um England was just our normal selves throughout the tournament we never set the world a light we never really played well I think we had um a first half against Holland played really well maybe spells against um was it Switzerland played really well in in spells but overall we just never had a good tourament um tourament football is getting through to the next round round we got through obviously to the finals but we just let let ourselves Downs again all right cuz there we go I don’t know I walked in here and it felt like a morg you know going on here why is the energy so low energy is not low I’m fine okay so when you see this this this run by England right they get to a final but it seems like it’s been very boring and pragmatic and that gasel gate hasn’t gotten the best out of certain players like Phil fod and even Jude Bellingham to to an extent yes he he came up big in some some moments but he didn’t play all that well um as we’ve seen him play with Real Madrid All Season what do you attribute that to and and maybe the trust also in a Harry Kane who didn’t look like anywhere near himself or at least what we saw from him at Bayern Munich this season he looked like he had heavy legs he never really got going he was too far away from goal where he’s a he’s a he’s a predator in the box and he didn’t get too many touches in in the final third so what do you attribute that to I would say For Me overall in the game England showed Spain way too much respect when you look at that game from the start there was too much respect shown to Spain and Spain capitalized on it Spain stifled England the entire game by willing to press being aggressive every time England got the ball Spain had three or four players and won the ball back so quick England could not keep the ball so for me when you’re watching that as a manager coach on the sideline you’ve got to start thinking I need to make changes Harry Kane hasn’t looked like Harry Kane the entire tournament he has not looked fit it looks like there’s something else going on there and the frustrating thing as an England fan for me is you look at to say it’s not like we’re struggling for talent we’ve got the talent there we’ve got players like Ole Watkins we’ve got Ivan Tony we’ve got um Geral B you could even put in the middle if you want Cole Palmer you’ve got players that can come on and make a difference when you don’t use those players and you still give the likes of Harry Kane opportunity still on the pitch uh Phil foden who wasn’t having a great game as well you don’t make changes as a manager as a coach you have to look at yourself and take elements of blame to that cuz I feel that we could have changed the dynamic of that game as it’s going on to let be a lot more aggressive not let Spain have it the way it is and one thing we all know here is no matter how good a player is one thing that players hate is being put under pressure and we did not put Spain Under Pressure throughout that game and we had players who could have come on and been a lot more energetic to put Spanish players under pressure the same way that they did to us which is why they dominated the game I agree I think England throughout the tournament only done well when we went behind so there was no pressure on us so against Spain we went behind come back and then once we come back we took half after gas again and then they punished us and that was our that was our tourament I think we behind we have to give Spain so much credit though because they went they they were by far the best the best team throughout the entire competition seven matches seven wins they are European Champions for a record fourth time in a row Charlie when you think about the run that they went on uh throughout this this past month what impressed you the most about him I think the different ways that they can beat you so one lamin yamal steps up this now 17-year-old was absolutely Sensational the the entire tournament and yes he scored a big goal in the semi-final but it’s how he opens up the game for everyone else his vision his touch his movement off the ball he puts so much pressure on back lines and then you you go on the other side you have Nico Williams who another player I thought in the final he was brilliant on the dribble one i1 with Kyle Walker that didn’t phase him at all he would go at Kyle Walker and even Kyle Walker was like oh this guy you know he he could go left he can go right and he’s so quick on the dribble so I love their confidence and then you see a player like Daniel almost step in remember this was a substitute he he wasn’t really supposed to play as much as he did because pedri would have played and pedri probably wouldn’t have been substituted as much as um as as you’d think so I think for Daniel to come into a tournament like this and come up with those magical moments of big goals of big impacts clearing the ball off the line this Spanish team is just from from top to bottom well built they have a great style the the manager has a good sense of when to make those tactical adjustments or substitutions Dela fente has coached these these these guys since they were kids essentially so um I don’t see them slowing down at all and all with Morata who is not scoring all the goals in the world but you can see his work rate just adds to what they’re trying to do and it’s all about the way that they build Tempo when you have Roger sitting with Fabian Ruiz who played well above his level it’s a really tough team to beat I would say for me the biggest thing that I look at when especially you’re looking at young players and you talk about young players it’s the end product that is the biggest reason why lamin Lamar is playing cuz when you watch him in the final third the decision making that he’s making at 17 years old is absolutely phenomenal those are the type of decisions that you see players in their 30s start to make where you don’t always have to beat the man you just get your head up you make a pass a penetrating pass that goes into Mar’s feet that could create a goal scoring opportunity on knowing when to cross it when to take someone on and then you win a corner that is why this kid is playing and why he is a gener talent because he’s playing like he’s in his late 30s already the manager Del made some absolutely great tactical changes you lose rodri who for me is in the conversation for best player in World football whether people like it or not he is in the conversation the player that should be winning well Player of the Year you bring on zuba mendi who comes in you don’t skip a beat and even when they make changes the changes that they made were positive changes throughout the entire game and one thing that I would say pay attention to deta you know he’s a good manager good coaches 89th minute you take off lamin yamal who is a threat but you take him off but that’s football intelligence in the sense of the young lad’s done fantastically well B on uh Mikel Moreno on more experience just to see out the game because you know it’s the 89th minute it’s getting to that stage bring a more experienced player that is good coaching that is good management there when you talk about tactics and tweaks at the right time that made me nervous when he did that cuz I thought this is this could entirely go into to extra time and then one of your best players is is not out there on the pitch but it it worked out and DEA fente I think it’s incredible the amount of trust that he has put into the young players like a linal like a like a Nico Williams when you have a manager and you’re playing in the on the biggest stage in the world Zach what does that do for you as a as a young player in terms of building your confidence I think both of them was players of the tournaments and you just I just saw Fearless in both of them and that’s what that’s why I enjoyed like um obviously being an England supporter every time play Spain played I wanted to watch these too it was exciting they kept you on the edge you see and I just love the fairness in both of them I I I have to also bring up the fact that Danny Carvajal continues to show why he is probably one of the most underrated right backs in the game one of the most important players for Spain and Real Madrid his I go back to the match against Germany he takes a red car for the team to get a second yellow cuz he knew at that at that stage Germany was pushing and it would have been a clear path for for Germany to generate another chance because he was out of position and he just takes the yell he said I’m going to take my right I’ll miss I’ll miss the France game he comes up with the the most incredible uh gamechanging tackles or game-changing interceptions or clearances just a a special player I’m going to see your kavaja and I’m going to raise you Karel where was this I’m give you that Kara cuz for me listen he had a sensational tour I don’t know where he’s been hiding but this isn’t the same Kar we’ve seen at Chelsea saw that coming and even in this game if you look at it England’s tactics was to go down his side they really tried to bully him and expose him and he Roose to the occasion maybe like the goal that they did get with Cole Palmer he was caugh out position he was still crazy high but Spain stayed true to how they wanted to play and then kukar is assist for the winning goal I I I’ll give you I see your Cal but I give you kukara for me having a better tournament for I’ve not seen this guy I think Chelsea might try and resign him again not knowing that he’s already signed to I agree with that he was unbelievable strong strong case for himself uh before we transition to uh our our next topic I just want to show this nugget think first of all think about think of their Journey who they the teams they beat France Germany Italy the the reigning Euro Champion all World Cup winners exactly uh but this was from op jooe this is a crazy stat since the 2002 UEFA Champions League finals Spanish teams and the Spanish national team have played in 23 major finals so Champions League UEFA cup Europa League World Cup European championships against non-spanish teams and they won the trophy every single time all 23 times it’s crazy that well that’s a big pill to swallow isn’t it I know I know I thought that was quite a a [Applause] staggering and think about the women won the World Cup I mean Spanish football is absolutely flying flying right now

  1. Agreed. England looked like average team with a few superstuds and Spain looked like they had an extra person most of the game with the way they setup.

  2. Thanks for keeping us updated! I feel sympathy and empathy for our country. low income people are suffering to survive, and I appreciate Amanda. You've helped my family with your advice. imagine investing $30,000 and receiving $95,460 after 28 days of trading

  3. England won the world cup in 1966 against Germany,
England hosted the Euros and Germany won
England lost the Semis of the world cup
England hosted the Euros again and lost to Italy
England has again played the finals consecutively now in Germany and lost to Spain,
Harry Kane with many personal accolades but never won a collective trophy with club and country
The Harry Kane and German curses could be the problem???😂😂😂
They both need to pray,we can't dwell on blaming the manager or players.

  4. Spain is a great team and players like Carbajal and Olmo are something else. Great team and hoping this is the beginning of a new GOLD era.

  5. Jude Bellingham looks great playing for Real Madrid because Real Madrid have great players.
    Spain are the better team with the better players and there's plenty more to come;
Gavi, Pedri, Curbassi, Ansu (and that's just the Barca youngsters)….

  6. bro had Foden chase Rodri and out of his position. He knew Spain was superior, and was just waiting for “something” to happen.
England has the talent but its issue is the coach, CLEARLY.😊

  7. This was always gonna happen. Spain have been consistently going up a gear when they needed to then relax when they are ahead. ENG NEVER had a chance, even more so when they started hanging back. I felt the second one coming..

  8. This England team is disorganized, very non-aggressive and with few technical foundations. From Spain we are surprised at how slowly they circulate the ball and how wasted those great players are.
    Greetings from Madrid 🇪🇸

  9. Co todos mis respetos: no creo que un entrenador español os ayude mucho si no tenéis el ADN necesario para echarle coraje ne esario para ganar y eso en España se mama desde la cuna.

  10. It’s actually 27 finals won out of 27 played since Valencia lost to Bayern Munich in 2001.
Spain national team – 1 WC, 3 Euros, 1 Nations League
    Real Madrid – 7/7 CL’s
    Barcelona – 4/4 CL’s
    Sevilla – 7/7 Europa Leagues
Atlético Madrid – 3/3 Europa Leagues
    Villarreal – 1/1 Europa League

  11. Don't know who that gentleman in the purple striped shirt is … but what garbage from the get go. "England showed too much respect for Spain …" England would have done well if Aitana Bonmati plays midfield for this team! Well, with that attitude, "It's NEVER coming Home!". Of all the talk/chat shows, this one is the worst! And I am an England fan!
