“Saka can have him on TOAST” ๐ | Jamie Carragher previews Euro 2024 final
you’re a little bit excited are you yeah of course I mean it’s it’s something we’ve got used to a little bit with this team now to credit to you know the squad and g s that we expect to be here now uh yeah bit of excitement little bit of nerves I’m actually uh in Spain as well so I’m H I’ll be surrounded by I think a few Spaniard tonight when the the game’s on so that’s BS well for a good atmosphere anyway and hopefully it goes England’s way it’s it’s going to be brilliant isn’t it I mean but you described England in an article I think today actually Jamie is football’s greatest Under achievements at major tournaments but you also said we can banish that forever today so tell me how do we do that I think we’ll have to be at the top of our game I think we’ll have to put in a performance that we haven’t seen from this team H in this tournament so far I think we’ve had probably in the semi-final against Holland thought we were fantastic in the first half I think the very first game I think against sa were fantastic as well I think we’ll need more than a half of of good football I think we’ll need that I think we’ll also be asked to defend for long periods in this game as well that’s something that we haven’t been asked to do throughout this tournament everyone we’ve played we’ve been better than really I mean Holland was almost like a 5050 game but I felt we had better players than them I think we we showed that within the game we a lot stronger than them I think at times we’ll be pushed back and we’ll have to defend and as I said we haven’t really done that through this tourm so there’ll be a lot of questions asked of you maybe the goalkeeper and the back four because they’ve been fantastic throughout this tour there’s been a lot of criticism for England but that’s mainly being the football that we’ve played and the attacking players there’s no real question being asked of the defense because no one’s really looked like they could score a goal against us I think that will change tonight it’ll be a lot more as of them so I think it’s to step up and class than what we’ve seen in this tournament in England will need to step up as well what about trippier then in terms of the team news you know is it trippier or Shaw who would you go for I would go with trippier h and there’s a couple of reasons why I think I think the ladu is up against yamal I think initially our left back or left wing back whatever it may will be will maybe have to have his defensive head on initially and think basically H how I’m a stoping this guy how Spain setting up and your M who likes to come inside on his left foot Tri right footed so I think from a defensive point of view I think that helps initially and you know at some stage maybe at a half time or after an hour Luke Shaw’s going to come on now I think if you start Luke sh is g to have to come off now it’s very difficult you don’t know how the game’s going to be but you expect it to be really tight and certainly think the Mad know behind you wouldn’t want to be bringing Luke Shaw off and bringing Kieran trippier on you know you’re changing more of an attacking player to a defensive player unless GED something completely different and went with a wingle on that side that could happen but I’d have no problem with Kieran tripier playing that side initially with the idea that Kieran trip that Luke Shaw was going to come on at halftime or after an hour yeah that’s an interesting point you make there I mean in terms of of the Midfield we’ve got kobby Mayu um you know potentially up against rodri we saw what happened in that FA Cup Final didn’t we so do you think Mayu can get the better of him today why not you know why not so you before on on a big stage Manu I thought was absolutely outstanding in that last game I couldn’t believe what I was watching you know for a lad of that age and the position he was playing as well he wasn’t just an attacking player who could go a little bit free and maybe forget his defensive duties he was he was brilliant to take that much responsibility for such a young player at that age and such a a big game the biggest game of his life and it just looked like he was just you know playing back you know Manchester United youut Team like he probably was 12 months ago so yeah I mean you look at that I mean you could look at being sort of rodri and Dean rice you look Ru in there as well who I think has been one of the best players in the tournament fabrian Ruiz so I think that Midfield Partnership of both teams only gets one man VI the other but I think England’s Midfield to will need help from Jude Bellingham and Phil folden if we play the same system as we have done of lately we have that box in Midfield I think it’s really imperative that those who get after rodri and Ruiz as well because I think just go man Forman or 2v2 I think our would find it tough it’s interesting isn’t it there’s so many kind of like um Premier League players in there going up against each other none more so perhaps than Baya Saka and kukara I mean kukara has lit up the EUR hasn’t he not and he hasn’t been able to do that for Chelsea how do you see that battle going today well listen I think sacka can have him have him on toast I don’t worry about that I’ve seen that so often in the Premier League I mean the the the the slight problem is that because you can’t have everything in football we all want you know the best players in the team so gett had to change the system slightly maybe to get Phil Fen and Jude Bellingham in central positions more often which means that P Saka now is actually maybe 10 or 15 yards deep at in a wing back position rather than than a rightwing position so that that is a different position he’s playing so can he hear cerella enough so that’s where England have got to get that balance right with that system where sack is doing a great job for you defensively and helping out with Williams maybe with Kyle Walker but when England have the ball he can still be high and wide and get in behind karella because as I said we’ve seen it before he gives him huge problems and and not just karella he’s G almost every left back in this tourn huge problem because he’s a brilliant player and he’s probably England’s best performer in this tournament so that’s just getting the balance right and that’s really key because we need to make sure we see enough of sack going forward as we do going back we know he can do a great job tactically brilliant diligence you know works really well for the team and he’ll do a great job and help Kyle Walker back there but we need to make sure we see sacka at the under causing karella problems as well yeah it’s interesting what sgate was saying in his press conferences throughout this tournament you know saying what he’s loved about his players they’ve been able to kind of navigate and and and do that we’ve seen sacka changing positions throughout that game how important is it for all 11 of those players today to become leaders yeah I I think it is important uh I think the fact that you get to it this far in a tournament you’ve done it before as well show there must be great leadership qualities within that Squad and and those leadership roles can change and can grow as well as new players in the squad that you talk about Mayu as well but I think what was interesting was in the Dutch game the semi-final Ronald Kuma made a couple of changes uh Personnel wise system wise as well as the game was going on and Gareth mentioned he had to make changes and little tweaks and sometimes these are little things that we don’t notice when we’re watching on TV but you know they’re very important you know happen in the game and you know however the game is going tonight whoever’s in front at some stage the opposition manager is going to change something as said again whether it’s Personnel whether it’s a system and these players have to adapt very quickly and take on real information and it’s difficult to get information onto the pitch From the Bench so you need those leaders on the pitch you can convey that message and also take on responsibility themselves yeah absolutely I mean the main leader is of course Gare Southgate where do you stand on this debate because actually we were talking yesterday the fact that this could potentially be kind of his his best tournament and almost his worst in terms of what he’s experienced out here in terms of the media in terms of the fans turning on him at times where do you stand has he done a fantastic job what do you think yeah he’s done a fantastic job and and anyone who says he hasn’t I think I don’t think you really take it too serious really I think we sometimes get hung up a little bit too much on social media I mean social media as we all know is for the cranks so I mean to take that you know uh people on there Ser this s about whoever it may be you know how that works I don’t think anybody expected journalist football pundit really could make a real strong argument back out at South hasn’t done a great job I mean it’s just there for all to see where we were before he came in and where we are now and how close that we’ve come but I think some of the criticism at the start of this tournament and through the games was fair you know the performances were poor really poor you we hanging on you know we had to score our last go minut a goal so to stay in the tournament we went to penalties against Switzerland you know these are teams that we should be beating and we should be beating well uh when you consider the team that we’ve got but that for me that’s not real criticism of g s because this has almost felt like the first tournament that hadn’t really gone to plan in terms of performances and scoring goals and looking exciting but somehow we by hook or by CR we managed to find ourselves in the final and this then could be you know the greatest tournament we’ve seen obviously for very very long time but certainly under GED s but at times it looked like you know this team or squad or manager was coming to the end that’s that’s the nature of international tournaments but H but no G done a brilliant job and uh as I said you can finish it off tonight it’ll H it’ll be a remarkable job that he’s done do you think he’ll leave do you think come what may tonight do you think that’ll be it for him I always feel a manager an international manager if the players and and his and his Bo or his fa don’t want him to leave it always feels strange leaving after the Euros to me it always feels like the World Cup is the one that you leave after uh I I think the f I think if we’d have gone out to Switzerland I think he’d have probably walked away because there probably would have been a lot of criticism there and he’d have probably thought you know what i’ about enough of this uh and not so much criticism just the actual scrutiny that goes with the England manager he’s been the England manager for a long time now and every little bit of sort of criticism you get it’s just another chip at you you know each each week each month but H I think he comes out to this feeling good which he should do now because no matter what happens tonight England have a good tournament I I think be right to almost finishing in America in the in the World Cup it just feels I mean if I was in G’s position I’d be thinking you know if we could win the Euros get to the final would I want to give that team to someone else and they go on and win maybe a World Cup because you’d expect England to go far in that way in World Cup in a couple of years so if it was me i’ do another couple of years and and I hope that does the same yeah you make a good point there Jamie look what do we can expect from Spain you know everyone’s talking about linia Mal only 17 years of age yesterday I asked M yesterday what he was doing at 17 he said he was in tenar I think um but what what have you made of them and and how impressive have those youngsters been Nico Williams and yamal running the the flanks yeah I mean I listen he’s been the best team in the tournament he been the best team to watch I mean I watched him in the group stage against Italy I think they won that game one nil and he absolutely batted Italy now I know Italy AR Italy at the past but they still got you know some big names got a great tradition a great manager and that game could have been 4-0 or probably should have been 4il and that was when I first sort of sat up and took notice of Spain because I think coming into this tournament I think there was a feeling that it was sort of England Portugal Germany or France one of those forward winning and Spain would Me Maybe on the outside but when you look at Spain’s records since the last Euros they got to the semi-final that I think lost on penalties to Italy I think they’ve been in the Nations final Nations League final they they’ve also won another Nations League final and they’ve beat a lot of top teams even before they came to this tournament so it was probably had a lack of foresight really that no one was really talking about Spain because when you actually look at the records and and the teams that they’ve beaten in this tournament as well I mean you can see why they they should and rightly so our favorites tonight to win this game so I think the two wide players have made a big difference because I think in the past we’ve almost felt out after you got the world class attacking player there’s always a lot of scrutiny on Marat up front and whether he’s good enough but in the two wide players look like they got two young players who could go on and be Superstars so there certainly something to watch those but of course Roder Midfield is has probably been one of the best sorts of four or five players in wal football now for the last couple of years and to to become that as a hold Midfield player shows how well he’s done yeah I would agree with with that just finally um where would this rank if they won where would this rank in terms of sporting moments do you think oh I mean it’s got to be right at the top hasn’t it because I mean we talk about 66 but I mean I can’t remember how many people can’t remember it you know really so In Our Lifetime you know I’m trying to think of things you know obviously England won the Rugby World Cup didn’t he in Australia that was some achievement but but football’s at the nation’s game this is our G that everyone gets sort of wound up about excited about emotional about so I think for England to win you know a major trophy certainly on foreign soil as well uh I think it’s got to be right right at the top yeah they’re going to win right of course yeah of course yeah on penalties well yeah I think we can do it on penalties Jamie always good to talk to you thank you so much [Music]

Come on England ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ
Will the real Phil Foden please stand up I repeat will the real Phil Foden please stand u watch today Foden will have the game of his life
1:05 "Fantastic against Serbia" wtf? What game was he watching??
Lets go spain
The English pundits always underestimate their opponents and are overconfident without knowing how poor their tactical mindsets are. It shows why no English coach has ever lifted any major trophies since Leeds claimed the title of the league. Remember how these clowns predicted completely wrong in the UEFA Champions League?
That's it yeah, target one of the form players in the tournament just so you can double down on your cucurella comment from the start of the tournament. Embarrassing.
It might actually come down to who is more effective up top….Morata or Kane.
You lot are provoking Rodri ๐ ๐ ๐
You clearly have not watched a Chelsea game this past season if you think Marc Cucurella has not been doing for Chelsea what he is doing for Spain. Do your research, it was his first season he struggled for form , in the season that has just closed he was one of our best players and ran Bukayo Saka ragged.
You should listen to europe commentators
The problem is Southgate
Going to have to dig in stay on our game no diving in and win your personal battles we in with chance this is our best chance to win the Euros id say
That's it Jamie. Get it off your chest๐คข๐คข.
Carragher isnโt English though ๐ค
England need to show us now Ur football not been great but well done lads we got there now bring it home
Wonder if any muppets in Liverpool will be celebrating if England win since they all say โwe are Scouse not Englishโ belters
Almost of every pundit has highlighted just how poor we have been in the main, and that we have had such an easy run to the final. That's just being objective. But if he wins it, it doesnt mean anything.
As fans we think we have good enough players to dominate teams like Slovakia and we are bored watching the way he sets up the team. Getting to the final hasnt changed that. We are excited to be in the final but its been a real chore watching this team at times
Carra is such a typical scouse chav lol ๐ Has a break. Heads to Spain. Looks like bacon ๐
This is soo biased and deluded, we are getting murdered
If any other team got the final the way England have, they'd be called resilient and people would have said they showed character but because it's England, it's they're boring and had an easy draw.
Other things we're hearing is we don't deserve it because Spain have beat Italy Germany Croatia and France but surely If, a big if we beat Spain, then we thoroughly deserve it as we beat a team who beat all the other top nations?
Spitter Carragher

โฝ๏ธ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ
Is Kane curse a joke to you? As long as heโs in the squad, England will keep getting to the finals but that will be their greatest achievement
Why is she talking to him like a child
๐ฎ๐ข๐๐๐ฎ๐ข southgate will bottle it .
Show the olly goal & the real stars
England win if the black players play well. Been dragging the whole squad the whole time ๐ You better believe all of you are begging for Saka now. Amazing how English change their tune and have memory loss. England have been more than saved in this Tournament
Why do all the English media seem to not hear the truth about England's chances? Every single interview ends with, "So we're gonna win it right? It's coming ?" When one interviewee replied "Spain 2 England 0" the media people looked shocked and angry, but when people say "Egland 3 Spain 0" it's all smiles. I swear, now I know where some my fellow Americans got it from. It's so bizarre. Let's all just say a bunch of bs and be happy until the inevitable happens. This is not good because it spills over into politics andpolicy.
Gareth will leave, coach at club level for two seasons and return as England manager on a second spell.
Yeaaaaa courseee
Mainoo on the scoresheet….and so is Nico. Hopefully both teams can present as many goals as possible to the spectators.
Come ed a softlad go ed!!
Yous lot talking jargon, sasauge anglo bs.
I think uk will get beat out, throwing beer everywhere!
In the end
Hand on head kane misses chance 89 minute subs .
Long head beer 5:42
Where's all those clowns that said it's never coming home??? ๐๐๐
I love how everyone have Southgates back now after slamming him in group stages ๐
Unfortunately the fans will get drunk, upset with the allosauras tack ticks, it'll be Ka, ka, kuuuzzz!! ' Carah go ed ah lad mate sqeeking pegeon! Then it'll be Roy longhead kene abuse, moaning, Mica richards will be laughing, for the sake of laughing… dam foolish giggles.. & uncle right will be………Yeah Kelz, after previously rolling on the floor when Harry misses…again. there will be AI aristocrats with analog outdated views ๐ฎ
Cara very intelligent, Saka has to run at cucarella
No way, Carra, "I think we'll have to be on top of our game"… Really? It's probably this kind of insightful analysis and knowledge that makes you a good pundit. ๐๐คฃ๐คฆ Now just say that the grass is green and water is wet, and we will all know you are a genius.
Cโmon England. We are rooting for you ๐ฎ๐ช๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ
Doesn't even remember the women winning. Sheesh!
Why is wearing a bracelet?
Spain 3 England 1
If Jose was our manager he'd be called a genius for being so tough to beat and also Spain played bigger names but there not good teams anymore whilst England played teams playing for there life's
I hope we have more of a tactic then saka at Cucu, becuase last time they played each other Saka completed 0 dribbles against Cucu. ๐
What Jamie is saying basically is that England would need to perform more than they did against inferior teams like Serbia and Netherlands where they performed better in the first half. Yeah thats def going to happen lmao against Spain. At least he's being honest by stating what they need.
Honestly the first 4 performances were woeful. Let's not forget that. It really was appalling. Really we only looked like a top team in the Holland game.
Southgate got incredibly lucky early on. He deserves credit for sorting it out after the round of 16 but he also deserves a lot of the blame for the incredibly uninspiring start
