Gareth Southgate EXPLAINS How England CAN BEAT Spain To Win EURO 2024 On Sunday 🚨🎙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

congratulations to England for reaching the final with us is Garett Southgate for the postmatch press conference can I have a show of hands please and don’t forget to say your name and the media house let’s start from there in the middle thank you hello Mis from T Sports China congratulations for reaching the final England is the first team in the history of Euro to reach the final after twice being behind in this disadvantages situation in the quarterfinals and semi-final why the miracle always happened to your team why do Subs always become super subs thank you um character um I mean I think in definitely tonight I don’t think we deserve to be behind it was a it was a moment um we’d started the game really well and I thought our performance with the ball was exceptional really good we caused a lot of problems um it was a very complicated game they kept changing the way they were building up so we had to keep changing the way we were defending they kept changing the way they were defending so we were looking for different solutions um but you know in the end the players made so many good decisions on the field um people like bukayo Saka the defensive responsibility he had he had to he started defending as a wing back then he had to go into Midfield to defend then he had to defend as a Winger um there were so many things like that going on all all night um but I was really pleased with the quality of our play it will be a it would be a I would imagine a long time since or if ever an English side had 60% of the ball against uh aside from the Netherlands so it shows the the more modern England way um but also the resilience and the character of the group because Ole Watkins has trained like that every day and he’s been ready for his moment no matter how frustrated he might have been at not playing um he’s been ready and the whole group have been and uh the way that they’ve formed you know it’s a group with a lot of new players in it and uh half the half of them had never been to a tournament but they’ve bonded so well and they’ve all got each other’s back and tonight um was a great example of that thank you over there thanks hi Gareth Steve from pa uh AP sorry um it sounds like you’ve stressed out the king back home he sent you a message saying he was on the edge of his seat like a lot of the fans can you just give a message to People Back Home who obviously have been stressed out by that by that performance and over the over the past few weeks of your sort of late late shows well I hope they’re enjoying a few beers really um we’ve had some incredible nights you know the last seven eight years um these games have been dramatic because the goals have come so late um the only reason I did the job when I took it on was to try and bring success to England as a nation and to try and um improve English football and to be able to take the team to a first final um overseas I’m immensely proud of that um but now of course we we’ve come here to win we play the team who’ve been the best team in the tournament and we have a day less to prepare so it’s a huge task um but we’re still here and we’re we’re we’re fighting thank you he uh OE Moody DW Sports thank you uh kobby Manu was everywhere in that first half and uh seemed to be gaining Confidence from everything that he did pulling out the flicks by the end of the half um do you think this was a breakout performance for him in an England shirt and how important is it for the team to have players like that who bring a bit of youthful Joy to the game well I think all of his performances have been exceptional um especially when you consider his age um you know it we haven’t really had a player like him um until now so it makes such a difference when your Midfield players can receive pressed and uh turn with the ball so easily and comfortably it looks simple when he does it but it it isn’t simple um but I thought him Phil popping up in spaces Jude you know our movement was really good and um you know that that caused a lot of problems it caused them to adapt how they were without the ball [Music] um yeah we had we had the goal that’s disallowed by a fraction for offside we have the chance that Phil is just cleared off the line so I was I was really pleased with our football tonight thank you hello Garett from Norwegian nrk you chose to pick off hurri Kane in your captain 10 minutes before the game was finished your best penalty shooter uh this seems like quite a gamble but how does it feel that it paid off yeah look Harry took quite a big knock um when he won the penalty so um we weren’t sure how long he he would be able to play on for um and him and Phil were playing well um but we were losing a little bit of energy on the pressure um certainly we weren’t taking Phil off because of his performance but we have got good players on the bench um that freshness we felt could help us and um we you know we wanted to make that gamble in normal time rather than waai till extra time having having been to extra time twice you know we didn’t really want to go through that again um physically as a team so um yeah for oy to produce that moment when he did was uh saved us another half an hour at least um but very very special for him I’m delighted for him hi Gareth congratulations James o from ESPN um could you just talk a bit about the changes that the Netherlands made in the second half the sort of tactical problem that that posed for you and and what your thought process was in solving it well from the start of the game um they were dropping depay lower um Simmons on the other side to normal so building a little bit more with a four um so we didn’t need the five at the back and um we pushed Bayo into Midfield to pick up reinders um they then adapted again because they were having problems um dealing with us so they left the Left Flank a bit Freer uh in the latter part of the second half played almost a 4222 much narrower um meant that they had the numbers in Midfield to make it more difficult for us um with Kieran had a little bit of a problem hopefully he could be okay but with them giving us the Left Flank it was a good moment to bring Luke on we weren’t sure how long he could play but to finish the game we felt would be important so they then adapted again with vorse coming on um they had more numbers through so they were a three box three really in the second half um which again B did a brilliant job covering inside so we weren’t able to be quite as incisive as we were in the first half but we kept the ball really well and we made them run and maybe in the end that’s the bit that’s for them um that that’s been critical um in the goal that we scored so yeah there was there was a lot going on in the game and um we had to keep making decisions and getting messages on but in the end it’s the players that make the decisions on the pitch and they did it brilliantly Michelle boov for 90 plus German media England now have mainly played against defensively strong game um teams um now they face Spain in the final the strongest um team in in this tournament would you say um that possession and offensive teams suit um England better in terms of playing style well we’ll have to get the ball off them first so uh it’s not as simple as um us having the ball and making them run I mean they press very very well so we we’re going to have to be exceptional with the ball um um and we’re going to have to be exceptional without it it’s but it’s a final you know you expect it to be that way it’s uh they’ve been the best team we’re starting to show a better version of ourselves the extra day is a is a concern you know in the last few tournaments that’s been a problem for finalists so um so we’ve got to you know do the very best we can to recover the players as as well as we can and but we’re not going to be on the training ground that’s simple we’ll be walking through things or delivering things in meetings which was the same for this game um but we’re in there and um with with what we’ve shown to this point we we have as good a chance as they do hi Gareth Simon Peach from PA congratulations um you’ve touched on the personal criticism and the buildup obviously the difficulties you had early on every knockout game there’s talk of whether it’s your last game so with all that in mind where does this rank in terms of achievements of your time in England and and how proud are you of everything yeah um as I said earlier I I took the job to try and improve English football and um we’re now in a second final the last one was the first in 50 years we’re now in the first um that isn’t played on our Shores um I think we’ve got a team that will’ll be together for quite a while so it’s not as though this is a team that’s at the end of a cycle and we’re giving people some amazing nights I think we’ve given our supporters you know some of the best nights over the last 50 years so um I’m hugely proud of that I’m delighted if everybody at home is feeling the way we are um and the way the supporters in the stadium we’re feeling um but from our point of view we’re not finished we’ve got um you know the the greatest possible test to prepare for and um we came here to try and win the tournament and and that’s still our aim thank you yeah g say Daily Mail will the experience of the three years ago preparing for the final to call on those experiences to help you this time around and is there an important balance to strike tonight just in terms of celebrating the moment but also focusing on the on on the game on Sunday yeah I mean the lads are singing in the uh dressing room but they’re straight in the ice you know so um yeah there’s there won’t be any wild parties we’ve had a couple of those already so um we pick our moments for those but um yeah in terms of the experience of course you know every game you manage every tournament you manage you learn so much um when I took this job I’d had three years as a premier leag League manager um I’ve now had 100 Internationals some of the biggest games in World football you learn all the time from that so we’re more calm going into the knockout games because the first time we did it in Russia we hadn’t won a knockout game for 10 years we hadn’t been through the experience um quarterfinal semi-finals you know we’ve we’ve we’ve managed a lot of those games now so you’re definitely much better prepared um because every experience you go through you learn from and um yeah you’re improving all the time you your knowledge your understanding um so yeah I would say if you’re a coach and you’re not doing that there’d be a problem really but um the last final yes it’s the first final first European Championship final I’d ever managed so if I didn’t get everything right apologies for that but we’ll try and do better this week hi Garett congratulations with the final uh on the 13th of July uh yal is having a birthday he’s turning 17 on 14th there is the match do you have a present for this exceptional player or you keep the medal for you thank you can I get your name in the media house please Harry Armenian media thank you he’s uh he looks an exceptional Talent that’s clear um um we have some good young players but you know Spain pedri gavi yamal um the center back I’ve forgotten his name sorry from Barcelona that you didn’t bring 17-year-old kabasi um we’re not the only country that has good young players sometimes I think we we think we are but it’s not the case so um yeah we we play a very very tough game at the weekend there’s no doubt about that um but it’s it’s it’s a final so you expect it to be a very tough game and uh we we’re proud to be there and we’re looking forward to the challenge I’ll take the last three questions okay we’ll start from here hi gett stanman new now from the Netherlands Kuman just said it wasn’t a penalty how do you look back at that moment uh I haven’t seen so um um I know our analysts that were looking at it thought it was um presumably they’ve reviewed it very closely so um but no I have not seen it actually with a question over here in the second row thank you paolog Jo the times could just check on Kieran trippier’s injury and was it a growing injury and and do you think he’s got a chance for the weekend yeah not sure um we didn’t we didn’t want to take any chances and we had excuse me we had it in our minds that bringing Luke into a game with that balance at some point you know we’re still deciding how long he could play for but we felt to be able to bring him into the game and finish with that balance was better than to start it and and then have to take him off um so we’ll have to see how how trips is but I mean he’s been absolute Soldier for us and um to fill in the way he has and produced the level of performance on on the wrong side of the pitch with the injuries he came into the tournament with as well has been absolutely phenomenal last question yeah thank you um Rob trer evening standard and Gareth really nice point of connection with the fans obviously in contrast to disconnection earlier in the tournament was that special obviously something that you’ve enjoyed you said you need to enjoy that moment but but was that quite important to reconnect yeah I mean we all want to be loved right so when you’re doing something for your country and you’re a proud Englishman um yeah when you don’t feel that back and when all you read is criticism it’s hard so um yeah to be able to celebrate a second final is very very special and you know especially with fans that travel you know our traveling support is amazing the amount of money they spend to travel um the commitment to do that to be able to give them nights like this and you know I think we have given them a few over the definitely the last six years from from Russia onwards um yeah it means a lot so if I hadn’t been on the grass I’d have been watching celebrating like they were so we’re we we’re Kindred Spirits in many ways um but of course I’m the one that has to pick a team and um yeah so to to be able to uh to give them a nightlight tonight very very special thank you very much thank you for your presence once again thank you to the volunteers who helped us out and congratulations congratulations to England for reaching the final thank thank you

  1. Watkins proves Southgate hasn't got a clue….Watkins and Toney would have lit up this tournament with Palmer, yet Southgate continues to not play them

  2. Well Scotland got a 2-0 against the Spanish….. how did we do it….. we were stoic and bullied them a bit. Only way to break the Spanish, gotta play good football AND the gamesmanship game has to be good. They don't like, "physical" if they on receiving end but can dish it out….. Waaaah!

  3. Wow well done England. As a Welshman I’ve been watching all tournament and hoping you slip up at some point but those players have shown great resilience in these last few knockout games and fully deserve to be there in the final. Spain are tough customers but with the way things are falling for England this tournament I would not be at all surprised to see you bring it home. Enjoy the celebrations.

  4. Christ he’s boring
the subs should’ve been made 20 minutes before they were…if we win this thing it’ll be despite him not because of him….we have the most talented players but the worst coach

  5. Not a Gareth Southgate fan. I think we are all getting caught up in the fact we got lucky again, the first goal from Holland was a wonder goal but we also gave them too much space to shoot, in set pieces we were 2nd to the ball how many times did they get to the header first? Gareth gambled again until the last few minutes to make a change. I am happy we won but sorry Gareth I am not sure that we are in the final because of your starting 11 selection and definitely not your tactics, good luck with Spain but I feel your tactics will not work against Spain 3-1 Spain in 90 minutes

  6. That was a Dominant Performance yesterday against the Dutch 🇳🇱 a spark 🧨 has ignited England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Bring on Spain 🇪🇸 on Sunday COME ON ENGLAND 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 we are Berlin inbound 🎉🎉

  7. Come on England team getting better each game hav growing into the competition all that maters is getting to final now go win it lads ❤

  8. Everyone wants to be loved, right?🥺 That was quite heartbreaking to hear. I don't care whether you agree with all of his decisions or not, no one deserves some of the things that were being said about him. He got so much abuse. He's easily the most successful England manager of the last 50+ years. Beyond the back to back Euro finals, there wasn't even an ounce of this team spirit, mental toughness or pride in the past.

  9. In stark contrast to Spain yes England have done well to overcome the many minnows they have beaten by the odd goal. dubious penalties and penalty shootouts. I just wonder what they would be like if they did not have the huge funding they have, the best facilities, stadiums and of course the level of expertise foreign players and managers that have been attracted to the domestic game from the many Betting coy's that plough money into the Premiership. .

  11. I've been very critical of Southgate this tournament but he managed to get us to a secobd consecutive final. I don't think he's the best in game manager but no doubt he has had a very positive impact on the players and the team in general in terms of team unity, ability to cope under pressure, creating moments when needed and winning penalty shootouts and that's been enough in this case to get us to the final. Not the prettiest football, but these changes were needed. If he does get replaced I just hope the new manager can continue with these changes.

  12. When England meet SPAiN 🇪🇸 the huge problem facing England is how on earth they can get the ⚽️ away from the Spanish feet, their passing is absolutely astonishing, they have won six in a row with scintillating football, the English game is boring and very very slow. How on earth they gave reached the final is an understatement m, the only way that England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 may score a goal is to show a very very physical approach, but even then may cost them very dearly, I’m being honest and fair, as the Spanish will be way to strong for this England team

  13. Soy española 🇪🇦. Lógicamente deseo que gane España 🏆… Pero como el fútbol es imprevisible, el domingo veremos quien se lleva el trofeo.
Que todo el mundo disfrute del partido 🎉 y gane el mejor 😊
