      I like Shaw and would wish him the best of luck, but Wednesday England will lose to Holland. Southgate has proven that only luck brought him this far wit boring football. Fot the tournement we need a exiting final Spain-Netherlands. Netherlands is growing and growing and has a real teamspirit. I predict a 3-1 for Netherlands. Gakpo, Depay, Weghorst – Saka

      The current line of questioning leaves room for improvement, and the responses are typical of players who seem to lack personality or any semblance of sincerity. Fans at the Euros, regardless of whether they're German, French, Slovakian, or from other nations known for their respectfulness, perceive Gareth as clueless. If England, a nation that prides itself as the true home of football, triumphs in the way it has so far, it risks gaining a reputation as the country that irreparably harmed the sport through its uninspired and fortuitous style of play. Best of luck to England, and may the team find its spark again although there aint much chance of that happening.

      11:49 I know this is a press conference, but that answer (belief and world-class players) doesn't really speak for Southgate's tactical nous. Not "we know our roles". Not "the system is clear". Not "he makes it really clear where the opponent's weaknesses are, and how we can exploit those." Not "He finds a solution with his subs when we are struggling." No. None of that. Just belief that the world-class players will pull another one out of the hat. Wrexham 2.0. (Probably with less swearing)

      For the rest I liked his answers to some of the inane questions by some of these journos.
