Is Gregg Berhalter’s time as USMNT head coach coming to its end? | Pro Soccer Talk | NBC Sports

  1. That they may find "no clear upgrade" and "that's fair", are you out of your mind? The vast majority of professional coaches would be better than Berhalter. Sticking with him isn't even below the bar, it's underground. The fact that the players are so comfortable with him, is one of the reasons he should be gone!

  2. Coaching always matters. Tactics always matter. A good coach brings the level of his squad up a few notches. Berhalter never once changed his tactics. 4-3-3 attack with wingbacks. Classic Gregg.

  3. End the US mens soccer program its a waste of time and money. With all the talented players in the United States the program has never won anything. They are not respected internationally. No international coach is interested working for a soccer federation that would rather get an std that success internationally

  4. Tactics don't matter? The coach doesn't matter? So, if these things don't matter, then 3G is a fine choice? Seriously? That is what a USSF shill would say. 3G OUT!

  5. The team was never going to be Uruguay, nor beat the Netherlands in the world cup……Yes, Gregg is not a good coach but you also overrate the players, you're not better than any of the 2 teams you lost to in the last 2 tournaments.

  6. If you want to compete with the big teams. Then you need to look for a winning mentality. Not telling your team the other game is tied 1-1 and just hoping the other game works out for you instead of focusing on your own game.

  7. stop blaming Tim Weah. He isn't the reason why this team is soft and can't compete on a big stage. USA Soccer is run like a Fairfield county travel team. Feel bad for Berhalter?!? FOH he was never good enough to begin with and never worthy of the position. And keep Jurgen Klopp out of your mouths. Why on Earth would Jurgen Klopp waste his time and tarnish his legacy managing this clusterfuck of a soccer program?

  8. Managers definitely matter for the International game. Setup the team with a solid structure and install a mentality and you can fight above your level. We saw it in the World Cup with Morocco.

  9. Tired of these useless shill's like Andy, "controversial" yea def controversial because that is such a stupid statement. That is how international soccer works, but you have a coach who is adamant on playing club soccer on an international level, FFS.

  10. Berhalter may have a good rapport with the players. It's great 80% of the time.
    Concerns:
Failing to run up the goals v Bolivia

Conceding goals v Panama with a red card. US should be scoring more goals even with 10 men.

No strategy v Uruguay who didn't even try. Signaling 1 1.

It's in these situations that the manager' ability shows. He failed to step up. Was more about mentality.

Also, USA team is missing a target man. Doesn't need to have crazy ability. Look at Weghorst for Netherlands. That's the model US need to go with.

  11. * USA mightily struggles on the road in WC qualifying – RED FLAG
    * Gregg leaves his best strikers off 2022 WC Roster – RED FLAG
    * Gregg benches his top attacking midfielder and up-and-coming star amidst sub par tactics at 2022 WC – RED FLAG
    * Figuring his contract won't be renewed, Gregg talks sh** about players and calls it leadership – RED FLAG
    * Confirmed accusations of domestic abuse surface – RED FLAG

These are just what stand out to me. There are bigger GB haters than me who have much longer lists.

  12. 7:51 This is only possibly somewhat true when the manager isn't totally incompetent. I think there are few supporters or reputable analysts who wouldn't say Gregg hasn't been a mill stone around this team's neck.

  13. GGG did good in bringing in the new youth and getting us out of the group at the World Cup. But his abilities end there. He should have never been rehired for the 2nd stint.
