Morrell’s aggression was evident from the outset, as he inflicted a cut around Henderson’s left eye in the first round. Despite Henderson’s efforts to defend himself against Morrell’s relentless attack, he found himself backed against the ropes for much of the bout.

In securing his third defense of the WBA secondary super middleweight title, Morrell expressed his desire for a potential matchup with Benavidez, as he believes a fight with Canelo Alvarez, the WBA’s true champion in the 168-pound division, is not currently within reach. Benavidez, who recently stopped former IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (43-5, 36 KOs), has been mentioned as a potential opponent for Morrell by both fighters.

Henderson, from Fayetteville, Arkansas, suffered his second defeat in three fights, having previously lost a 10-round unanimous decision to Isaiah Steen (16-0, 12 KOs) last July.
