Watching this in the Netherlands in a town with a lot of Turkish people. Two hours ago a lot of firework and cheering people. Now again a lot of cheering people and car horns.
Klopp is low-key incredibly rigid with his formation and did a pretty awful job of using Gakpo's talent. Gakpo's a dynamic player when used in the right role.

No team in this tournament is more creative offensively than the Netherlands ..every single player is technically sound..there are only 2 problems ..midfield isn’t great defensively and Memphis isn’t very clinical

He might miss that final finesse for being an absolute top player, but he is not far off. More than good enough for a mediocre team like Liverpool. Get over yourself.

Questions on Koeman? That was mainly international pres. Not Dutch pres. And it wasn't about playing with flair. It was about effort, intensity and defense. And they showed that.

After today i think they can win it.
Based on this round of sixteen games I rate Spain as the best team, followed by the Swiss and the Dutch team. England, Germany, Portugal, and France all played pretty terrible in this first knock-out round, and were all very lucky to get through. I don't see the Swiss having much trouble with England the way they are playing currently. And the tactical superiority will be enough for Holland to get a win over Turkey. The semi final against the Swiss will be close, but all together there is a very decent chance that Holland will reach the final. If they do, I only see Spain as a far superior team. But Germany, Portugal or France have not been impressive at all, and both the Swiss or Dutch team have no reason to be afraid of them when they reach the final.
ok lads, codys form for liverpool was terrible untill febuary.
klopp recently mentioned how he and cody had a conversation at the end of febuary about cody trying to do too much and trying to be like mane or salah or diaz or firmino, and not just being cody.
since then he has been brilliant.
he was playing with no confidence for a long time.
but something klopp said to him has sorted it and his touch and decision making has been spot on.

I as a Dutch man watched the Dutch national team for 50 years now, knowing that we are a small country, we played some propper footbal since Cruyff, trying to play attractive and creative football within the 4-3-3 system wich can flow into 5-4-1 or 4-4-2 during a match. But those are just numbers. What I'm trying to say is; the Dutch allways aim for the most fluent type of football, with all positions interchangeable, pressure on the opponent with ball by one touch play, and pressure on the opponent at the same time from ALL positions when not in possesion of the ball.
To achieve that level of play is the hardest and highest form of football to reach for. The benchmark is the Orange team in 1974…. we had a good team in 1988 winning the European Cup…but we had a very good team in 1998 wich could have become Worldchampion, and in 2010 where Spain played near to the type of football I just mentioned, and where we lost our third WorldCup final. And because we are a stubborn, sometimes overly selfconfident nation, we tend to persist in wanting to play a perfect match, the sort of play known as Total Football, even if we don't have the players to execute that type of game.
Now France, Spain, Argentina, Brazil and Germany are really big football nations, they could try and reach that level. Spain allmost did that in 2010…becoming Worldchampions, France have got some capabilities to reach that level, if only their most creative players were selected, Brazil are supertallented as allways but they can reach that if their teamdiscipline is top notch, Argentina can play it if they have a very very good day on all positions and Germany are in a footbal transition towards that level of Total Football… where they used to play with power and strenght .they wanted to change that more into the type of Dutch style. Hence the Germans did not do well since 2018…but the type of say Dutch style football is now catching on in the German national team and they are beginning to have some sucsess!
In short; to play "Total Football" ..is like dream football..all positions could be played interchangebale, pressure on the opponent on all positions, with and without the bal…direct one touch play..fast and slow..narrow and wide…the total control and dominance in the game and of the opponent!
The Dutch and Spain have the most enjoyable teams to watch. They really play the attractive football.
Gapko should play from the left wing next season at Liverpool. We’ve all seen why.

Dutch Dangerous
No worries. Arne knows Gakpo very well and in one aspect he is different from Klopp. He believes that each player has only 1 best position on the pitch and only when both the cohesiveness and the player's improvement are huge, the team will keep winning. Hence, Slot will never allow Gakpo to play CA, always LA. Remember, Slot is very demanding. When Gakpo does not score many goals, he will not play as attacking players have to score frequently. Slot will help Gakpo by working closely with him and do anything to improve him quickly, but Gakpo has to deliver as Slot is used to win trophies every season. Not winning is not an option for Slot.
If you’d watch him more closely, you’ll see that he is doing really well at Liverpool. He got injured and had to compete nunez when he got back. End of the season Gakpo was Klopp’ first choice again. At Liverpool he plays as a false 9 and is probably the only non-selfish striker. It’s too bad he doesn’t get used on the left side at Liverpool more often.

This tournament has been an advertisement to Liverpool to play him on LW, yes he can play striker, but he is so much better on the left
They should put him on the left, that's he the best in, but in LV they put him in the right..
