Can England Win Euro 2024 Playing This Badly?

with regard to Euro 2024 how much does playing well actually matter there are some very powerful examples of teams who have not played well at a tournament and ultimately reign supreme not got much help oh he doesn’t need any help how about that it’s Argentina but England are obviously not playing well in fact let’s be totally honest we have been downright awful and we deserve to have been eliminated from the tournament but we are still there we are still believing we are still dreaming we are still fighting so what I need from you today if you would be so kind I need your opinion let me know in the comments does it actually matter how well you play at this stage of a tournament how many tournaments are ultimately won by the team that plays the most free flowing expansive aggressive effervescent football seriously try and answer that question how many International tournaments have been won by the team that plays liquid football from the first game to the last the answer is almost none so therefore I ask you does it really matter if you don’t play well at an International Tournament for example in 2004 when Greece achieved The Impossible of winning the European championships in Portugal beating Portugal both in the first and the last game of the tournament nobody really knows or even cares that Greece actually lost a game in the group to Russia and managed to progress from the group with only four points thanks to the amount of of goals that they scored that’s right Greece won that tournament they will forever be known as the team that won that tournament they made history that day that they won the tournament it was historic an unbelievable achievement and something that we should praise that team for no end but they got out of their group in that tournament with only four points just for some context here England got out of their group in the same tournament with six points but who had the last laugh Greece were actually a risler paper away from going out they were tied level on points they were tied level on head-to-head they were tied level on goal difference and they only went through from the group because they’ scored more goals they limped through but who cares and by the time Greece had played their last 16 game they’d already lost the game as things stand England are currently unbeaten another example would be in 2016 in France Portugal who ultimately won the tournament finished third in their group they did not win a game they progressed through the group stages of the tournament with am measle three points they with Iceland Hungary and Austria they finished third in a group featuring Iceland Hungary and Austria they didn’t win a game in a group featuring Iceland Hungary and Austria and yet they made history and then of course an even greater achievement was witnessed in Qatar 2022 the truth is Argentina were average so average that tournament from losing their first game to Saudi Arabia I was at a game where they played Poland they were very lucky Messi missed the penalty they then did enough but limped past Australia in a fairly uninspiring way but nobody cares when Lionel Messi put on the Bish and lifted that trophy aoft for only the third time in Argentina’s rich and illustrious history nobody cares how they got there they just care that they did the destination in football is often all that matters in fact in intern tournament football You could argue that the destination is the only thing that matters Victory is all that matters and ultimately if England win this tournament nobody will care that we faltered through the groups nobody will care about that terrible 94 minutes against Slovenia that miserable 94 minutes against Slovenia it will all be confined to the ash heap of History if somehow we can win this tournament we’ve also had more than our fair share of Glorious failures haven’t we basically all my life we have been Valiant losers we are the personification of the term Valiant loser if I say Valiant loser you immediately think of the Three Lions badge it’s about time that we play badly and win how many times are we going to say things like oh if only Gaza was an inch taller in Euro 96 we were robbed by Argentina in senten in 1998 so Campbell’s header should have never been ruled out we came home with our heads held high 10 Brave Lions on the pitch we were so unlucky against Brazil in 2002 weren’t we Ronaldinho flute it that was never a shot it was always across Valiant losers time and time again when that keeper Ricardo took his gloves off giving it the bigon Ashley Cole pings one in upst Darius forell yet again England Valiant losers Jamie carer in gon kirken where I’ve just got back from God that one stung didn’t it 06 Jamie carer off the back of Steve Gerard missing God that one still hurts me now Valiant losers we have so many times played so well and ultimately lost so my question is does playing well matter I think some people argue that it matters because of the product the product that is football it matters for that reason people want to see an entertaining product personally speaking I genuinely don’t care about entertainment I find winning in itself entertaining enough but maybe the world is changing maybe the fact that we’ve seen so many managers sacked for not playing an exciting enough variety of football their brand of football isn’t enthralling enough it’s not easy on the eye enough maybe that would suggest that it’s not only about winning some people like to suggest that football managers have a responsibility to entertain as well as to win and if that is the case then obviously it matters hugely how you play obviously Gare southgate’s team are letting us down on more than one metric you know we’re not winning games as as often as we should we’re certainly not entertaining as entertaining as we should be considering the players at his disposal but I don’t care about the entertainment if we win if we don’t win of course you want to see players playing with a smile on their face intricate sexy football as rud hulet called it but to be totally honest I don’t care I don’t care let us just somehow by hook or by crook get ourselves into this final yes we’re not playing well against Slovakia it was terrible I was in the stadium it was awful to watch turgid football it was bloated football baggy football rather than being live and direct But ultimately if we can win this tournament I genuinely don’t care the only reason why I believe that performances matter is because I don’t think that it is sustainable to play this badly and win a tournament but surely that’s what everybody said you know when Greece lost in the groups to Russia I imagine their fans were saying we’re never going to be able to win this tournament playing this badly when Argentina lost to Saudi Arabia I imagine their fans were saying we’re never going to be able to win this tournament playing this badly when Portugal didn’t win a game in their group I imagine that their fans was saying we are never going to win a tournament playing this badly and let’s also remember that England aren’t the only team struggling France haven’t yet scored a goal from open play Portugal relying on penalties to get past Slovenia If we’re honest the only team that have looked any good is Spain so I’m being hopeful I don’t particularly care about the performances as long as we can find a way can we rely on individual Brilliance and a little bit of luck to get us through the night or is G Southgate going to surprise us all turn it around and have us playing scintillating football by the time we kick off against the Swiss let me know sounds optimistic doesn’t it thank you so much for watching this video
