With Casemiro likely to leave the club this summer, Manchester United are in the market
for a defensive midfielder and Manuel Ugarte seems to be the preferred candidate to
replace him.
In what is a very paper thin DM market with Rodri and Rice being the only elites, clubs
have to be a little cleverer and open in the profile of player the sign, but Ugarte is a very
decent market opportunity that although his is more of a 6/8 hybrid – he has the adequate
experience in the role.

Won't get Rabiot due to wage demands and not playing in Champions League in my opinion
I totally agree we need multiple 6 or 8 type midfielders and if we get ugarte we should get amrabat to stay as well and we are solved in the center of the park for a low amount of spend. Best of all it keeps mctominay out of 6 or 8 which he technically and statistically cannot do well.
United will not be pressing as a 5 if rashford is playing…. Same as we didnt press with ronaldo sancho or erickson over the last 3 years.

Don’t know much about this kid but from what I’ve gathered in your video I think 40 mil maybe 40-50 is probably fair price. More than 50 I would say na mate. Either way it’s hard to see Casemiro going anywhere he’s on massive wages and still has 2 years left on the contract. Not been a single rumor or hint of him leaving. I expect Casemiro to be here end of the window barring a last minute bid from Saudi

Manuel Ugarte is a solid defensive midfielder. I´ve been a fan since his years in Sporting and he is a type of player that Manchester United is lacking.
Replace Casemiro with Ugarte, but that still leaves us short in that position. Our midfield unit right now Mainoo, Mount, Mctominay
Love the idea of Ugarte and Rabiot coming. Fingers crossed
I worry if he doesn't have a goal threat in him. For all of Casemiro's weaknesses he showed last season, he was still able to come up with a goal here and there, especially on the set piece. And it's such an underrated ability to be a goal threat as a No.6, when the players around you are struggling to finish chances.

He'll be our Martinez of our midfield having that fighting spirit that warrior like attitude that aggression but can also play abit. Perfect long term replacement for Casemiro
Now this guy is the real deal. Top CDM at the Copa. Look at the goal line save he made against the US. He was a destroyer and got away fouling that perfect South American way like 10 times without getting even a telling off. Just has that Pirlo type vision to with his medium passes
P.S. Pelestri has been really good and has played almost all 270 minutes for Uraguay so far….
Having Ugarte is like having 2 Lisandro in our team which is very good, he's an aggressive type of DM, got the speed, pretty good technique, but what scary is his positioning, just like Lisandro Ugarte has the ability to put himself in the right place and in the right time

Id still be very open to it even if Case stays. Just having options does so much for us. Feels like for the longest its been this option and only this option.

Ste, Do you see a world where United bring in Ugarte AND Amrabat in? Think it makes alot of sense as Ugarte can play #8 also.
I really rate Ugarte, thought United missed out when he went PSG. Great age etc as well.

Instead of Rabiot and the high wage demand and drama he'd probably come with, I'd she'll some extra money if we have it to get Caqueret as the rotation option. The only weakness would be height in rotation but I'd prefer that over Rabiot both stylistically and age-wise. If we kept Scott and Amrabat, our midfield would be Ugarte and Amrabat in rotation, Caqueret and Kobbie in rotation and Scott and Bruno in rotation. If we get Zirkzee, Scott would suit the midfield runner beyond the deep lying forward that Lewis Ferguson did at Bologna
