Leeds Utd transfer news: Senegal World Cup striker Boulaye Dia on Orta radar as journalist backs double attacking swoop. Leeds United are on Tuesday also reportedly casting their eye over another World Cup star in Senegal striker Boulaye Dia.

The 26-year-old was a starter on Monday as his nation began their 2022 World Cup with a 2-0 defeat the the Netherlands. Boulaye Dia lasted 69 minutes before being replaced by summer Leeds target Bamba Dieng.

The striker is owned by Villarreal but is spending this season on loan with Salernitana. And the attacker has caught the eye for the Serie A side with six goals and two assists from 14 appearances for the 12th-placed side.

And per il Gazzetta dello Sport, the player is hoping to use the World Cup as a platform to secure his dream move to the Premier League.

As such, the paper hints that a potential move to Elland Road would certainly interest the player. Boulaye Diaz appears a long way down Villarreal’s pecking order, despite having a contract to summer 2026.

Indeed, Salernitana’s loan for the player also contains an option to make the move permanent for a fee of around £13m (€15m).

As such, Boulaye Dia will be allowed to leave in 2023, after scoring just five times in 25 LaLiga appearances for the Yellow Submarine. Prior to his move to Villarreal, Boulaye Dia played for Reims in Ligue 1, where he scored 28 times in 88 appearances. Boulaye Dia also has 20 caps for Senegal, scoring three times.
