“He’s not going to take us much further unless we sort it out” ๐Ÿ‘€ | Allardyce reacts to England’s win

well that’s it the final whistle has blown these are the scenes in Newcastle England are into the quarterfinals of Euro 2024 they have certainly done it the hard way in Gilson kersen this evening they went one nil down Ian shran scored his third goal of the euros and it looked as though it was going to give Slovakia their first ever victory in a knockout game at a major tournament but right towards the end deep deep into stoppage time a brilliant acrobatic go goal from Jude Bellingham level things up and then early on in extra time a header back across goal from Ivan Tony turned in inside the sixy Box by Harry Kane for his 64th International goal England have seen it through they will play Switzerland in the quarterfinals in dorf there a bit of Afters Dean rice involved on the field but Sam alliz Goodness Me England left it very very very late you know how was saying looking I was looking quite relaxed after being a manager the tension’s gone out me face like you mean I think I’ve I think I’ve aged today watching watching the England side not doing as well as they should do so you know who knows but uh there’s been I don’t know what he’s been saying the the manager he’s upset Dean rise for some reason but now you just need to smile in his face and say unlucky and walk away don’t you you know what I mean that’s what you need to do you don’t need to get involved but it’s you know look I have to say as much as I wanted to praise the England side I praise him for a late comeback I praise him for the way they’ve seen the game out and way they won the game in the end but the near 90 minutes before that is not going to take us much farther unless we sort it out two very different goals it’s what you what we’ve come to expect even at the age of 20 from Jude Bellingham an absolutely brilliant goal oh yes but I’m see I’m seeing the likes of Austria teams like that you know Georgia playing with freedom our nerves are Shattered by the looks of it and we’re not playing with freedom we’re not playing so we can express ourselves like we know we can and that’s the pressure of playing for England and the pressure what’s come upon them by not performing right from the start to the best and you can see the effected as on the performance where as other teams who are unexpected to beat Italy see them off comfortably by the quality of their performance and and the team looking like they’re playing with no nerves and producing the quality of goals so we’ve got to get to there somehow in the next round who we looking like playing Switzerland next in dorf next that’s going to be a very difficult game because they were very very good I just want to talk then about pressure and as you said trying to take the pressure off the players what what do you do I remember um one of your former players Steven warno tells a story about I think it was a preseason training Camp you took him on a night out stuck your car behind the bar and said knock yourselves out which I’m not sure necessarily is the right idea now them days are gone no me cost me less money as well that but um um what do you do then now to to try and get them in a place where they they play with a little bit more freedom uh when do they play Saturday well I mean that’s a full week I mean there’s recovery which is the most important thing physically mental is recovery whatever that is by the sports science the nutritionalist the exercise the psychologist the it’s not so much the manager managers just just has a a meeting tomorrow to discuss the game in the points he wants to discuss and say hey hey not so good not so good not so good not so good not so good better better good good good so finish on a positive in my opinion and then it’s about the nutrition about the recovery about strength of mind and body so that’s like hydration nutrition yeah to make sure that the mind is full of the sort of um feelings that we’re going to do well and scientifically I don’t know what they’re called dendrites I think they’re called something like that positive dendrites make you feel positive make you feel good so we get we get to that you know so we’ve got the everybody knows about the nutrition about the nutritional value about topping up getting the tank full playing with a full tank of petrol yeah but we don’t know where the mind is it’s very difficult to find out where the mind is but what we can do is play with the mind and see where we’re at look at the psychologist look at what they’re thinking what they’re saying what they’re doing look the body language look at how they’re training and then make your decisions from there how you’re going to go but but they have to go out with there enough energy because you stop playing football when you can’t run it’s the only thing that stops you playing football your skills your concentration your levels of experience are so high and then unfortunately your legs don’t go anymore and nobody gives you a contract and that’s why you stop playing football you know more about the game than any other time into your 30s and then you just can’t play anymore that’s why when you finish that’s why you’re so gutted and what you want to do is take that experience into coaching and management if you can I want to talk about analysis as well um and I think G Southgate will know any manager will know that wasn’t great largely that England are into the next round but performance-wise it wasn’t brilliant I remember speaking to you when you were at Sunderland about you you sent Clips to players on their iPads that they could watch in in in the afternoon how do you do how would International Football work then will will there be a session tomorrow or Tuesday where they look at things that worked in that game things that England have to do better if they’re to break down Switzerland when they play them next weekend how would analysis work do you you think well I would I would I would send that send them I I wouldn’t do it I would do nothing so I would go out the ordinary I think outside the box and say what the lads are going to expect ain’t going to get and they go oh what’s he doing what’s why is he do don’t you want me do this what what why you know what why is he doing that like you mean so just get him thinking about you know is he going to pick me is he going to pick me and some people might think that’s quite strange like you mean but in in some ways it’s called unexpect expectation they’re not expecting it so you give it them and it kicks them into oh and then when they find out they are playing they really they oh god you know I’ve got to go out there so you don’t explain yourself you just carry on changing things slightly whether you want to be that that controversial because your celes your staff will say Gaff you can’t do that you’ll throw them right a wobbler like you mean I mean I used to pick the team every Thursday and Friday and I have sometimes I go Saturday morning 2:00 this is the team and it would relieve all the pressure and all the strain of remembering where you go and what you do and how you do and they just go out and sort of play with with more freedom that won’t last forever you have to go back to your Basics again and get into them but if you’re changing something to maybe do something different throughout the week and do it but the most important thing is obviously physical mental recovery

  1. Teams playing this badly consistently don't tend to turn it around to go on & win a tournament. The Swiss & Austrian's play much better football & are much more of a team. They'll probably be England's next couple of opponents & they won't beat both even if they get lucky against one

  2. Sam is right I think. But honestly can see England shithousing their way to the final like Portugal in 2016 and my heart and blood pressure can't take it ๐Ÿ˜‚

  3. This โ€œa win is a winโ€ nonsense is just, nonsense. The red flags are infinite. This England team stands no chance against the likes of France, Germany and Spain.

This is Englands last win in the Euros. Mark my words.

  4. Sam. What a great insight to managing. Imagine him as team manager. Right lads get the beers in. 6am start tomorrow. If yer late yer sacked. Now crack on
    .

  5. Foden for England is pure ass idc who this offends its not tribalism its pure facts man, the shirt is too heavy for him. Bellingham has been just as poor but at LEAST hes getting goals some how. Drop Foden and Walker (2 city players interesting) start Gordon even Saka LW and Trent then England will improve

  6. The Full backs are the issue. They spend most the game not passing down the wing or in to midfield and 85% of the game reject passes that are on and instead pass back inside to centre backs. It slows the game down so much and leaves us not creating anything and just passing side to side

  7. ok,, Sam lucks,, luck,, but with,, pundits,, like Neville Wright,, Dixon,, saying,, yous, English,, will win,, the euros,, never,, never,, never,, in a,, million,,yrs,, as Southgate,, was ready,, tae,, go,, back,, selling,, pizzas, again,,๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

  8. the Swiss,, wont,, wont, let,, them,, of the,, hook,, as if the,, play,, like,, that,, fur,, a120/minutes, then,, the Swiss,, will, have,, a field day,, as next,, week,, yous,, are,, goin,, home,, no,, more,, luck,, Gareth,, ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

  9. I'll take the win. The euphoria celebrating Jude's late late equaliser was overwhelming.
Jude himself says its not easy playing for England; it's hard work and people are quick to criticise.
I say Well Done England. Keep going. We are behind you all the way!
