Arsenalโ€™s acquisition of Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria looked like an astute bit of business for anyone who watched Serie A last season. And that was before one of the Italian top flightโ€™s hottest prospects starred for Uruguay at the World Cup; despite being not selected for a starting berth until later in the tournament, the young midfielder excelled at the base of Oscar Tabarezโ€™s diamond formation, especially in the 2-1 win over Portugal.

  1. The only problem with a diamond 4-3-1-2 is how will we defend when we don't have the ball. The opposition can easily stretch us by moving the ball wide and doubling up in those areas. With no fingers to help the full backs that could be problematic as it was for uruaguy vs france

  2. here' the formation I'm hoping for

    Leno

    Bellerin Socratis Mustafi Monreal

    Torreira

    Ramsey
    Ozil

    Mikhitarian Aubameyang

    Lacazette

    – Leno in goal as he's looked really sharp in training and Petr is way too old now, Leno should be a good addition to the team
    – Bellerin, this guy has so much potential on the right back, he's fast enough to come up forward a lot and support Mikhi and Ramsey on the flanks and generally cause havoc with some of his runs
    – Socratis, good signing, he's a strong tackler and a tall man, good in the air, he'll basically act similarly to when Mertesacker was good
    – Mustafi, although he's not had great seasons, mainly down to injury, I'm confident he can work well with the team if he trains hard
    – Monreal, still as good as ever, great left back who can come really far up the pitch without being too slow to be isolated if the opposition counter, idk why people would chose anyone else over monreal, he's a great player
    – Torreira, as the video said, he's the much needed holding midfielder Arsenal haven't had for a long time, he'll help cover our defence as we play quite attacking and up pitch
    – Ramsey, great all round midfielder, good at shooting, playmaking and tackling, he'll be playing on the right cuz that suits him
    – Ozil, Ozil is the greatest player on the pitch, even if he hasn't always lived up to his potential, I hope Unai sees this and doesn't sell him, he's an amazing player and will definitely shine if given the right formation to work with, he'll be playing right mid, slightly attacking as Unai likes to have an attacking midfielder, he'll link Lacazette & Aubameyang and may even shoot himself
    – Aubameyang, very fast, great shooter and great winger, he'll set up laca or go for goal himself, him and laca will work amazingly together
    – Mikhitarian, very strong play maker, amazing at set pieces and great at finding the right pass, he'll be setting up everyone on the pitch for goal!
    – Lacazette, amazing goalscorer, pretty much everything you need from a striker, strong physically and great shot

I have a feeling Arsenal might be able to do well this season under Unai, let's hope!!!

  3. I dont think that 4-3-3 with Xhaka in midfield would be the ideal way to play. Id much rather see a 4-2-3-1, with torreria and ramsey in the middle, Ozil as CAM, auba left wing, laca top, and however the fuck u spell mkhtaryan on the right. Your thoughts?

  4. What would happen with Ozil though? Would he have to be played on the wing of the attack alongside Aubameyang and Lacazette?

  5. James Rodriguez and Dembele would be the two signings that would make the Arsenal squad be among the Tops of the world, my ideal would be Leno, Sokratis, Mustafi, Bellerin, Monreal, Torreira, Ramsey, James, Dembele, Mkitharyan, Lacazetti. the perfect 4 2 3 1!

  6. Torreyra to Arsenal and Jorginho to Chelsea: Premier League took 2 great registi from Serie A.

This will shape Premier League a bit, because 2 strong teams will now switch to 4-3-3.

  7. This aged well ๐Ÿ˜€ Nowadays Torreira plays right side of midfield 3 in both 4-3-3 and 4-3-1-2 pushing up the pitch, allegedly to help in creativity, lol.
