Analysis – How Scotland improved against Switzerland | Uefa Euro 2024 | BBC Sport

it’s quite interesting isn’t it they’re they’re not kind of you know being over celebratory or kind of going the other way from the disappointment against Germany they know they were very muted kind of clapping towards the fans they the job is not finished a big relief actually you know I’ve been there before and obviously to get the next game after a bad defeat out the way and get a better performance Scotland showed greater fight much more commitment you know looked as if they were in a game and gave the opposition a game uh I’ve got to say I think that they they’ve done a lot of good things tonight Steve of a lot to lot to improve on and I do think that Scotland can can play better uh we had four or five set pieces which didn’t quite work tonight which maybe another right we we get a goal from but overall look uh us coming away from a from this game we a point was was a decent result tonight and as as for Billy Gilmore Rachel um he’s definitely uh earned his place tonight didn’t he it was a good decision to include him in the starting lineup he came on against Germany but he made a difference tonight he made he made a positive difference absolutely and you know we spoke before the game there would be role a role tonight for him that was massively defensive as well as that part which we’ve seen as many times in possession and um I think was early on the game first couple of minutes he put in a you know a real you know more of a Defender tackle really got stuck right in and you just think yeah that that’s what we’re going to need and someone like him setting the tone in that area the pitch isn’t what everyone normally is used to but it’s a job that everyone understands they have to do at some point in time and I think you know everyone got around everyone else tonight and and encouraged and they talked about you know the mistake everyone’s made mistakes throughout the game tonight and good teams rally one another and get around each other and and that is what it’s all about being Scottish we know that um and we saw that tonight in abundance and it no doubt played a huge part in US building into the game and finishing the game on a certainly a stronger note I think and hopefully the guys can then look look at that and take a lot from it and go go into Sunday with you know even more of it because I think Hungary will be very difficult again but if we can again be even more effective in possession create more opportunities can we sneak a few more goals yeah and there was moments obviously that Scotland they put the fight in Billy Gilmore showing that but obviously he managed to get his quality get on the ball there were there were real moments uh we were we were discussing how we’re going to get sha Adams into the game um obviously a striker wants to have more opportunities to score goal but I think he I think he worked so hard tonight and there was one bit of quality link up with um with John mcin and Scott Momin there were moments there were moments so there’s there’s so much to build on so much positivity but you know as uh as was spoken about there slightly muted at the end of the uh of the game cuz there’s there’s a job to do they’re here to represent they’re here to make people proud and um they’ve taken a step in the right direction tonight

‘Greater fight, more commitment’ – how Scotland improved against Switzerland

  1. I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn from such a diverse group of individuals. It's broadened my horizons in ways I never thought possible.🍒

  2. Je suis continuellement inspirée par l'intrépidité et la détermination avec lesquelles les femmes se défendent elles-mêmes et les unes les autres dans cet espace.✨

  3. It was nice (being back on roof too stunning view studio) but also nice seeing gabby instead of Gary & moyes too with bbc team a proper Scotsman

  4. What is this obsession with English pundits wanting Scotland fans to support them in competitions, it's so weird. Stop this nonsense. Scotland fans will be supporting their own country, not the country that borders them. Do you think the Swiss support the Germans? Do the Spanish get asked if they'll be supporting Portugal? The English and their precious ego knows no bounds, truly.

  5. Had to get their England update during half time of a SCOTLAND game will the reverse happen ? Will it fuck waited over 20 years for this and they can't just focus on us for once England weren't playing just leave it for 5 minutes!

  6. Back passes to the goalkeeper are dreadful to watch in such an elite competition. A couple of passes are their limit before giving possession away easily. The Scottish players did not look well-coached and ready. Get Southgate after the tournanent
