is this the final chance for Belgium’s golden generation just the one goal in this game and it came from Slovakia even Scranton the seventh minute after a mistake from Jeremy dku that put Slovakia on the board here and gave them quite the upset result not for them but certainly for Belgium welcome in gab marcotti now who’s seen this game for us today but Craig I do want to begin with you they haven’t got a golden generation what’s left of it I tell you what and and I don’t know what the other lades think but Don and I are in a slightly different side of Defense to this one absolutely we completely we watched two different games say his case I’ll be quick I’ll be quick because there’s other people here I’m happy to play the negative guy and I said this before the tournament I I I I didn’t fancy Belgium uh before the tournament I did not think they played well today I thought they played better in the second half but I thought for long periods they were poor they were poor and and Slovakia did a good job of them credit to them fantastic result Absolut absolutely brilliant I was not imp and I know they had two goals chopped off I do not conquer I think but but when you you said on X they were predictably predictable what do you mean by half I was bought step after the initial could have been one n up in five minutes but they weren’t well I know that the first half’s 45 minutes I was B stiff watching Belgium in the first half it was so slow and I talked about Kevin De bruyne and one and he is the Talisman now uh and he just labored around the field for me he had the you been unbelievably harsh they could have been one up at will Lukaku in the first 5 minutes goals and off the line Listen Hold on they’re playing Slovakia well they could have scored four they’re playing Slovakia they did not they were they got better how good how the man of the match today Martin Deka the goalkeeper and I would expect that when when a so that tells you when a team that’s ranked F by the FIFA rankings which is a lot of nonsense is playing Slovakia I would expect their goalkeeper when a goal when a goalkeeper like Deka gets man of the match it tells you that the opposition have tested him Slovakia were leading the game and like most sides do that are the under doogs you start to sit deeper you invite pressure Belgium made some substitutes they had a bit more Pace about them and obviously they two goals chopped off one was offside you can’t be offside clearly so and the other one was a contentious hand ball it hit the hand some agree some don’t as a as a as a very general rule of form I personally was not impressed by Belgium today fits and starts gab what did you make of Belgium today yeah I kind of think I’m uh Team Craig here uh on this one I was I was not impressed I I I apologies I didn’t I didn’t like his didn’t like his initial selection I I I think um I think the buildup was way too slow uh in in the first half I I don’t know about the wisdom of playing Onana and and and mangala together um in front of the back four uh and I think the buildup got quicker When de Brina dropped off but again I don’t think de Brina had a particularly good game too and um look I was obviously wasn’t exactly I had to be neutral in this one because of course both teams happen to have uh Italian managers but um on the night sure Lukaku could have scored a hattrick fine we we’ve seen this before he gets himself in those positions a lot and then he misses uh some of the time and he missed tonight but you know even if they scored three goals and won 3-1 or 4-1 it’s I still would not have been particularly impressed uh by the performance uh they have to get better and they can get better on that contentious decision the second of the dis goals what did you think of it you thought it was hard thought was unbelievable a slight hand ball with a Pender I mean brush is a fingernail and there there’s no for me there’s no intent there whatsoever now it has a m look yeah me neither it has this is me going down the old boring line it has a material effect and a goal been scored that’s I’m going down the sort of straight route here it did but it was hard but it wasn’t deliberate was it he’s wrestling with a Defender for the but who was too tight by the way Defender gets too tight to start with that allows him to get rolled and as the ball flecks up he’s it Skiffs him and then the BR did you see what they brought out this is it Nik niker what is it nicker a where the hell are we at now where the hell are we no the little heartbeat I tell you what was poor from Tesco though coming up to the idea of playing Jeremy dku on the right hand side second half when he played him on the left hand side the fullback was 37 why didn’t they why didn’t they know that at the start of the game why did they understand that dcu’s best position for Man City he’s on the left hand side why try and Sh him into the side on the right side he was really good the first 50 minutes he was at fault for the goal that they give away but he was bright when he was G forward putam me’s the best position against the 37y old had him on toast the best play in the field for long periods for me was Deka Deka was lokka yeah yeah just it just was terrifically composed in the midfield for for I know he plays for I know he plays for naol he’s a good player I know he’s a good player but it’s different when you go in and you’re not playing with with as good of players as he does generally in Sera and the way that he was able to sort of control things particularly in the first half uh for Slovakia was excellent Frank yeah I I’m I’m always um sad about what I see with Belgium because yeah we can go into details that they could have won 41 but it’s like that generation misses all good uh um meetings with with BigTime football and that golden generation becomes a wasted generation because with all the talent that we see playing for so many big clubs when they play all together they almost do nothing or well at the end of the day nothing happens but it’s true that today when you see the squad you say what how come dku can doesn’t doesn’t play Sorry on the left side every time he play for Manchester City even in the FA Final he makes a difference so why don’t you use the best assets of your best guy at front that’s completely insane I don’t get it you can put tra alongside um um Lukaku but at least put d on the left side try to get something out of it but it’s it’s like they have a curse it’s like they would never get anything because that generation is uh maybe cursed and uh and that’s what it is it’s it doesn’t work they should have won 4-1 at the end of the day they lost one nil gab gab what do you think Tesco is going to do now you think he’s going to probably make at least three or four changes and what what cards could he play to improve this Belgian side I think he will make changes um I I I think certainly one of them is is is going to be in the middle of the park um uh I again I I think Onana stays I think mangala will probably be the one to uh the one to miss out um he also has the option of seeing if he can get the prince charl the ker involved um I didn’t like I I don’t think trossard worked particularly well I suspect he played doku where he did to try to maybe accommodate trossard somehow um but I think he needs to give a lift because look you guys have all played the game you’ve had games where you say oh we could have scored three but we were nowhere near uh our potential and we didn’t like the way we played and I and I I think that was definitely the vibe uh that came off the Belgian players uh post game well he must be under a I mean Tesco is a general rule of thumb here he’s in off the back of Martinez who didn’t end well but he’s coming in he’s come into this tournament and it’s been controversial right because the best goalkeeper on the planet albe he’s been injured but he’s fit again in t CTO and I think many believe he is the best uh he’s not here now that’s not the reason that Belgium lost but it is a stick to beat the manager with if this doesn’t go well that he hasn’t managed the situation particularly well no matter who’s to blame whether it’s gotab a big kid or the manager doesn’t want to play ball and you know secede any ground doesn’t matter I would imagine the Belgian media like every every media whether it be English Scottish or Italian is that they’re looking for a scapegoat and you know that’s one thing that Tesco’s got that he needs to put right the players need to perform for him not only to qualify but to put away this well you didn’t manage this session you know we’ve gone into this tournament already negative because you didn’t take the best player you didn’t do this and you didn’t do that and your team selection today wasn’t this that or the next thing so he’s already behind the eight ball going to into his match day two which is going to be intriguing to see his team selection tons might be the answer you’re a tons because I look at uh mangala not had a great season with Forest not not particularly technical he’s a good player to get around the pitch he can put his foot in good awareness in terms of the position that he plays and then Anana Everton didn’t really get in the side towards the latter part of the Season there might be an offer coming for him and I think out of all the players at Everton pford branway all of them the one I think certainly from the fans point of view they wouldn’t mind seeing going for big money is Andre and Anna so those two if they are going to stay in the side they need the help of someone like yoelin who’s a lot more technical [Music]
