also got to see Romania stunning Ukraine with a 3-0 win in Munich obviously a big win for Romania there and an upset for Ukraine but probably not a surprise for hipster football fan gab marcotti you obviously saw this one coming gab I this was a surprise I I was surprised to learn that the last time Romania won a game in the Euros was a long long time ago and most of your guests were unsurprisingly uh not not just just still playing but in the earlier parts of their career and that was way back uh I think it was Euro was it Euro 2000 or 2004 when uh um when they knocked out England in in in the the Phil Neville game and England went out in the group stage so uh this is not a generation of of talents it’s saying you know unless you’re pretty hardcore fan there’s not too many guys you would have recognized other than stanu and and dragus um and they were really criticized they were booed off the pitch uh one of their last um uh warm-up games was against lonstein um and they were really criticized by their own fans and I think this was the best possible response and I know people will criticize Andre Lunen and without question he’s at fault on two of the goals um but this performance was so one-sided uh and and I thought Romania were so smart in the way they continue to attack a tremendous goal obviously from from stanu as we said and yeah I mean they’re walking on air they know that most likely at this stage they got great chance to go through to the next round so really emphatic win and really disappointing uh from Ukraine who really are a lot less than the sum of their parts gab where exactly are you in Germany because we’ve seeing differing reports on what people are thinking of what they’ve encountered so far in the euros and the way that the tournaments being put on in Germany where are you and how are you finding it I’m in Berlin I was in Munich for the uh opening game um I think the vibe’s been really really good from the fans I know there have been a lot of complaints about logistics and getting around and getting into stadiums and waste time wait times and uh all I can say is that I get somebody pays for me to be here and to watch football um and then talk about it with you guys so you know first R problems compared to people who go who are out there and have real jobs but um but you’re not sharing a room with Jules and his nephew are you no no no no no no je Jules has like I I couldn’t because Jules has a steady stream of visitors uh relatives his nephew his kids his cousins um the the guy who delivers his papers in the morning I think his landlord’s coming around too I don’t know how he does it but um yeah no he has a triplex in in town it’s the only way to accommodate all these people I don’t where’s all this morning Comfort well Sid L is one of them who no Derek Ray is always telling us how wonderful the transport is in Germany and we’re seeing different honestly Sid law is becoming he could argue that he’s the biggest wher on this show is he the is he the new Augie he’s superseded me but the great J it looks great there’s always a few there’s always people complain the stadiums and the the facilities to me in Germany are absolutely ideal for a tournament like this to have it in one country you know it’s it’s a it’s a vast it’s a bit like the World Cup in France when when I played there and Frank played there in ’98 everything’s said the stadiums are terrific the atmosphere are great uh and and there’s only one person in the whole of Germany mouring about it and it just so happens he works for us he does and it’s actually nice that it’s him Mo instead of you for once I never more I I’ve changed [Music]
