Portugal are one of the favorites to win the Euros because they have some amazing individual players but individual players don’t necessarily make for a great team and Roberto Martinez doesn’t seem to have settled on a particular style of play or even a starting 11 now you could argue this is a strength because they can adapt to their opponents and stay unpredictable but Martinez has tried a 42 31 a diamond a box a back three two Strikers and almost every mix of midfielders you could think of it’s basically impossible to know who will play and yeah sure they absolutely Breeze through qualifying but they haven’t really been tested by anyone that good but one positive we have seen is that Portugal no longer rely on Ronaldo doing everything himself all over the pitch instead he now focuses solely on poaching around the penalty area and it works he scored 10 goals in nine games in qualifying and took more shots than any other player now one worry is that Martinez has previously failed to get the most out of another golden generation when he was the manager of Belgium but this Portugal team was amazing and he really should we doing something special with them and for more on Portugal and all the teams at the Euros read the athletic

Portugal moving away from the colour of JJ's top to a red colour is a loss
The problem with Portugal is that the players that are supposed to be stepping up for Portugal in 2024 are all mentally soft and extremely comfortable with losing when facing adversity. Bruno, Felix, Leao, even Bernardo Silva all of them let their heads down and go hiding when things aren't going well.
