Newcastle are reported to be considering a move for Juventus’ Weston McKennie, along with Aston Villa and Everton. Could McKennie be a decent option for the midfield? Is he good enough to be part of this squad?

  1. It's a no from me, I don't think his stats are good enough to offer us improvements over what we have for squad players depth already with our injury player list returning. I get we have to invest in the lower scale of the market also to find some gems, but at 25 years old and a few to many Pound notes for the privilege I think we can do better. I think we need to be clinical in who we bring in this window (nothing silly but at least an indication of ambition), if we are to improve our chances on keeping certain players also. cheers and Keep well Chris

  2. Transitional, think not,we're a mid table mediocre team, nothing is going to change with recruitment until howe and his nephew are gone,it's football ffs not amarathon, try playing possession football for a change.

  3. Not sure I see where he actually fits, I think a fit Longstaff is better, agree with you Chris. Itโ€™s a no from me. Hopefully Miggy has an amazing Copa, add a few million on his transfer๐Ÿ˜Š

  4. Mckennie was good at Leeds for a short while playing alongside Tyler Adams. In the Qatar World Cup, USA drew 0-0 with England, these two dominated Rice and Bellingham.

  5. This "availability is the best ability" is utter nonesense, and it's the new buzz phrase!

If availability is the most important thing, does that mean we should keep Almiron as his availability is better than Olise?

    Quality is what's required

  7. you have to be kidding me watched him a few times for club and country ,if these are the types of players howe is after then im sorry but he needs to pack his bags

  8. Im not sure comparing his stats to Guimaraes is gonna be that helpful, cos Bruno is one of the best midfielders in the league. We need to see if he can improve on the likes of Longstaff and Willock.

  9. The rumours are from Italian Media who are notorious for giving false rumours and reports so take this with a pinch of salt. The player is not an improvement on our squad players so is a no from me.

  10. Disagree. A lot better than Longstaff, and he admitted didnโ€™t handle his fitness like he should have while at Leeds. Affordable and would allow Bruno to press forward. Signing this guy = keeps Bruno happy and less likely to leave

  11. I think this is just the media feeding Chelsea's "internet scouting department" dicky information ๐Ÿ˜‚ They'll have to set up another company to buy their own pitch for a zillion quid. And speaking of corrupt bar stewards…. Despite UEFA's own rules stating "no individual or legal entity may have 'control or decisive influence' over more than one club", they have allowed Man City and Girona (both owned by the City group) to compete in the champions league, and Man United and Nice (both owned, at least partially) by INEOS to compete in the Europa league. Football actually stinks right now. The big wigs don't even care anymore that what they're up to is obvious.

  12. Juve and Newcastle are my two favourite teams. Been watching McKennie for years and he's a very frustrating player in a less intense league.
He's not better than Longstaff. Please don't sign him it would be the definition of 'waste of money'.

  13. McKennie playing for our national team in the States has always been frustrating. Potential, but it never seems to show up. Look at his XG vs Goals (66 vs. 11). Yikes.

  14. Stats don't do justice to how well he play this season. They don't really press they kinda sit in. His completion % is skewed he usually plays crosses from wide. He's actually very creative and your forwards would love playing with him.

  15. Looks like Villa is working a deal with Juva for him. As I states we will lose out on him. His Sofa score and FotMob advanced metrics showcased him as a top 4 midfielder in Serie A this past season.
