Aston Villa will need to recruit well in the summer in order to maintain 4th in the premier league for the 24/25 season.

Jack Grealish left Aston Villa for 100 million to join Manchester City, Aston Villa have climbed up the Premier league table and have now joined the European elite in the Champions League.

Jack Grealish started only 10 games for Manchester City this season, various news outlets have linked Jack Grealish with a move back to villa.

My question to Aston Villa fans is –

Would we be in the market to re sign Grealish?

Would Grealish come back?

Its a topic of conversation and id love to hear your thoughts.

  1. i would love to have jack back, he is one of us he did so much for us could have easily left us for Tottenham when we were in the championship, a lot of fans dislike him because he wanted to go win stuff to create a legacy for himself, if the price is right and we could get a better deal because the player pushes for the move, i think that's great business he is a brand that would help bring in revenue and would get more eyes on us. 2. Jack must be quite unhappy now at City, a player of his ability playing a handful of games is absurd. For me it's very simple: if Emery wants him, great, I have no problem with the return of the prodigal son.
However I don't really see him as an Emery player. He's all about the team rather than maverick individuals. But I wish Jack all the best.

  3. It's a no from me.Wouldnt want the off field problems bought into our club.He likes the flash lifestyle and the beer too much.He would be an unwanted distraction for Unai .He made his choice. All this Grealish talk about how great he was and he was going to lead us to the promised land and all the time it was John McGinn who actually stayed and lead us to the promised Sometimes it's more satisfying to be grateful of what you have rather than what you had.

  4. No thanks – he’s too slow for Emmy’s quick break style – Grealish won’t release the ball and he will get free kicks but that’s about it

  5. No thanks – he's lost his love for the game and is now bang average. The player we all loved is long gone and as much as I like the guy as a person I wouldn't go near him with a bargepole from a footballing point of view.

  6. I dont think financially it would be an option for Villa at the moment . However , Jack Grealish is a better footballer than anyone currently at our club. If Jack Grealish rejoined Villa, it would be a massive upgrade to the squad . I dont blame him for leaving at the time . He's won everything he wanted to win in 2 seasons . There's no doubt he loves the Villa, so i wouldn't be mad if he returned . #UTV

  7. Yes. Bring him here. He’s still absolutely world class and Man City have done us a favour by minimising his wear and tear. If he can take instruction from Pep then he’s ready to take Unai’s classrooms too. The comeback arc is written in the stars. He’d gain us set pieces, score goals, his wingback overlap play is immense and he’s brave and fit. For the right moola and with a behaviour clause, bring him home.

  8. Ooooh naughty. I love Jack Grealish but when i think about this there is something that just doesnt sit right with me, an uneasy feeling. Positives would be his CL experience and his winning mentality founded by his achievements at City, and his ability as a player. Negatives are financial issues such as fee and wages and more importantly, how he would fit back into a side that has gained its own success without him. Villa is such a different club to the one he left and i really do think that would have an effect on both him and the other players. When he left he was by far our best player. Now, i dont think he is or would be. So for me, its a NO. …Very naughty you guys haha…poking the fire like that …love it. UTV

  9. I don’t really understand the hate towards him, left when we was struggling for a massive fee which has helped propel us to where we are now. We all know how good a player he can be, I think if we could get the fee and wages right then I would have him back and he’d come back with massive experience playing at the top level.

  10. I’m with Justin to a certain extent, and would trust in Unai and Monchi to square a deal off – but it wouldn’t surprise me if he goes abroad for a spell before coming home though 🤷🏼‍♀️

  11. Completely love DJ Grealo but maybe we can find better value players who also align more closely with Unai’s team shape and style of play … if Unai does want him then maybe a loan move is the starting point …?

  12. Would welcome Jack back with open arms if Unai feels he fits our system and wants him. In Unai we trust. As Justin says, it would need to work for the club financially and Jack would prob need to take a big cut in wages. Jack won't be happy with lack of minutes at City, he wants to play and he is a Villa boy so I think he would take the wage cut to fulfil dreams of playing for Villa in Champions League. Let's not forget that Jack carried us almost single-handedly at times when he had a fairly poor team around him, he was truly brilliant when given the freedom to express himself which he hasn't really had at City. I think he would flourish under Unai and get back to his brilliant best. Exciting to think of this Villa team plus Grealish brilliance and a few other quality signings WOW! UTV

  13. I think he would still be good playing next to Ollie in that position that we've seen Diaby occupying this season. I don't believe that he's lost that ability that he had with us, there's been ties where he's shown that its still there but just isn't what is required by the manager.

  14. No thanks, I also don’t think Emery would want him, especially with his drunk antics, also he’s becoming very injury prone and he’s getting no younger

  15. If he wanted to come back to Villa so bad after winning everything at City because let’s face it he has been a puppet used on a Guadiola string on a strict script of how to play not the Freedom Villa gave him which brought the best out of him, he would take a pay cut to come back to the club. He is all talk with little product. We have better players on the horizon to be signed.

  16. If the financial numbers added up, (which they won’t), and Unai wanted him, I’d take back the all action, maverick we sold. However, I wouldn’t take the over coached, safety first player he’s been forced to become.

Pep and Southgate have ruined him and I’m not sure even the great Sultan of Unai can undo the damage that’s been done…

Also, JG still comes with off field baggage, so I’m not sure if he’s a culture fit for this squad, (given the public comments made about Duran recently).

  17. Not for me. Jack was the go to player at Villa. We don't need a go to player now. He won't be our only route to goal now. We've evolved beyond a "focus player" mow

  18. Experience, Winner, Baller and Villa fan! Listen you can’t say no. Only thing is injury prone…. But that’s what a squad is about. He is now a team player as well.

  19. I remember Jack fondly for guiding and keeping us up but I don't know how he'd fit in. He would upset the dressing room too because I'd imagine he'd return with an entitled ego. You know what Jack's like, he will upset everybody.

Thanks Jack, all the best but I can't see a place here.

  20. to me no brainer,, more experienced and has freinds at the club so will fit in seamlessly
unai will make him better,,, he is utterly utterly wasted at city
we need a squad of quality,,, and he can be our greatest asset again
but we dont need him,, and money is an issue which is the factor that calls this….
but if we sell luis ramsey and duran donks chambers etc we can get jack and barclay and gendouzi gallagher,, maby a forward and a dm et etc
but,,,,, maby its just too expensive for now,, luis might be a bargaining chip as city do fancy him guess we find out soon enough,, 50 mill plus luis,,, would that be a good deal

  21. Would love to see him back in our shirt again but I think we should be putting the money elsewhere as we'll be back at full strength with Beundia,Ramsey and Rodgers playing on the left.
Grealish wouldn't be partying in Brum either with his family around him.

  22. I just don't see how it could work financially more than anything, no way we will be paying anywhere near what we sold him for, maybe a loan but i dont see city willing to do that.

He just isn't what we need now.

  23. If the fee was right and this transfer didn’t cause FFP issues, it’s hard to argue that Jack Grealish wouldn’t improve our current team. We all know what he’s capable of in the right team. Things have certainly changed a lot since he left Villa but Unai is a brilliant manager and would undoubtedly get a tune out of him the same way he’s done out of pretty much every player that’s been in the squad. Furthermore, Grealish now has experience in UCL and has been surrounded by serial winners at City which brings another layer of confidence and experience at the highest level.

Totally agree with Justin’s comments, if Unai was a fan and endorsed this signing then it’d be a no brainer in my opinion. The only possible arguments against could be his recent injury record and the lack of sell on ability in a few years’ time but from a pure footballing perspective, he’s still a very good player and I believe that the next team he plays for will see a more exciting version of Grealish than the one we’ve seen playing in a City shirt being used by Pep as a decoy player/possession retainer.

    UTV 💜💙

  24. It’s a no from me. Was brilliant for us but we have moved on (which was quite the difficult process). I don’t want to see Roger’s or Ramsey pushed out for him. Imo the likes of McGinn, Martinez etc need to be celebrated for sticking with us and getting us to Champions League. They too could have left to chase cheap trophies but chose Villa. I don’t want their contributions overshadowed by his return (he would inevitably steal the limelight). I will always be thankful for what he did for us but we are now in the realm of having some genuine Villa legends and he isn’t part of that. UTV. Thank you Jack but we are a different club now and the only brand to worry about is AV.
