  1. Darwin Nunez has got all tools to become world-class centre forward, but the question is can he deliver and can new coach like Arne Slot get best out of him? We know Slot has track record of developing players at max of their own potential, we hope he can do it with some of our players at the club.

  2. Also, the absurd bullying and threats launched at Nuñez—unless you all have actually put names to faces— could have been people from his own camp maliciously complying with what was already in the narrative space, dark arts stuff. It immediately took some of the heat off of him.

Yes, Occam’s razor says probably not, but I wouldn’t totally rule it out.

  3. A strikers job is to put the ball in the back of the net and he can't do it.He's had long enough to settle in he's just not a top class striker we need to get rid of him.

  4. I can't remember a player that felt so close to being world class while also feeling so far away from world class at the same time like Nunez does

  5. Nicolas Jackson has more goals and assists in a worse team than Nunez and contributes more to overall play in my eyes. I don't see how Paul qualifies Nunez as better.

  6. Nunez had less goals in the league than Kai havertz, Nicolas Jackson, and Leandro trossard to name a few and I would think he is the second coming of JC listening to half my fellow Liverpool fans. I love Darwin’s passion but it’s embarrassing to have less goals than Nicolas Jackson, and be considered a starting striker on a team that competed for league title for 3/4 of the season.

  7. I feel like this argument that Darwin doesn't score vs the bigger teams is not looking at the big picture… both matches vs united, he has an assist and salah's goal in the 4-3 is from a deflection off a nunez shot. City? he gets the pen for us that macca scores. Assist vs chelsea, assist vs new castle for the 1st (on top of the brace in the first). assist to seal the match v everton. vs villa that end 4th, an assist and he generated an own goal off the post. Saying he's "not there" is just wrong cause he's contributed to big matches. Could he have done way better? hell yeah. But to say he wasn't there for any big matches this season is just wrong. And even what some say was a "very poor season" for him, so many of our points hinged on this lad this season… I get wanting him to reach his potential but he does get a lot of hate that's not deserved. He's just being scapegoated.

  8. Salah misses howlers, Diaz too. Don’t say Haaland doesn’t, he shot over the bar from 6 yards recently. The point is it’s become the norm to always counter any opinion when talking about Darwin. Even if his goals were against ‘lower’ clubs they were still important at the time. Perhaps, against the better sides they have better keepers. Seem to recall a lot of saves he’s instigated. They’re not misses, they’re saves. Well done for keeping the balance Paul.

  9. Everyone loves gakpo (rightly so) who ended the season well but was poor for the majority. Nunez is the opposite, just because he finished the season poorly no reason to dismiss him. No reason to think he won’t continue to improve next season. In terms of him being offside so many of the passes needed to be played first time but the extra touch and looking up for him before hitting the pass meant he was offside (not always but I noticed this happened a fair bit).
If Slot plays 4321 he’s ideal for the 9.

  10. Klopp is right, he’s the most unlucky player. I think he needs to go on loan to get that feeling of making goals again.

Salah’s assist to him alone should have allowed Liverpool to become Premiere League Champions.

  11. The bald commentator- he is unintelligent- Nunez was brought to replace Mane, Klopp said it, he was not brought as a CF FACT. Who as scored the most winning goals this season for LFC. Its Nunez, who got the penalty V man city, Nunez.
Nunez was exceptional with Jota-an Diaz, those 3 are by far the best and have accumulated the most points.
Nunez was injured with Jota at Brentford on February 24. he misses 4 games, LFC struggle, Klopp plays him for the last 23 minutes at Forest. Nunez gets the 3 points, FACT. Nunez then plays V Man City with the injury still, lasted 73 minutes, got the penalty and that got the point FACT.
His minutes come to 21 games. Nunez only played 252 minutes out 720 mins , that is the last 9 games.
Marco Belisa got it right, he said LFC players dawdle on the ball, like TAA had the ball in his possession 2.7 seconds before playing it to Nunez, who was then 6 inches off side. Belisa was and is right, only Mac allsiter plays the ball to Nunez straight away.
The Bald bloke lacks basic intelligence

  12. The bald bloke- Look at Firmnio and Mane first two seasons – both are not as good as Nunez first 2 seasons. Nunez did not decide the price- Nunez put Van Dyke , Gomez, Konate , TAA on there fat backsides, in the ECL twice, punished LFC defense with ease. Nunez did not play CF for Almeria, Benfica or does he play CF Uruguay.. He plays across the line, he is not a number 9 the bald bloke needs to learn facts. By the way Gapko first 18 months are dreadful stats wise assist and goals

  13. Gakpo and Nuñez are on the same boat for me, two very up and down players. People are saying Gakpo for starter mainly due to the recency bias of him ending the season stronger than Darwin but Gakpo was poor at the start to middle of the season, both need to improve under Slot. Also to argue the teams Darwin scores against, the Bournemouths the Burnley’s, etc. those are literally the park bus teams that was have the worst time scoring against 🤷🏻‍♂️

  14. I like Darwin although his decision making to beat the keeper can be dodgy…remember the 2nd leg against Atalanta? clean through on goal and tries a cheeky chip at 0-0…that annoyed me massively
    🔥 YNWA 🔥

  15. If Jota is fit, he starts ahead of Nunez, no question in my mind. I can't defend Nunez anymore, he misses far too many easy chances. The way he deleted his Liverpool pics, just proves how immature he is and doesn't have the mentality to lead our attack.

  16. Getting rid of Nunez would be an epic error. He really needs some sort of sport psychologist with him over pre season. He will come to light very soon!!

Also the Same people calling for his head, regularly complain about FSG & Sack Jurgen….aka Gob Sh#t’s

  17. I do wonder if Slot can help him but, as you say, when I think of all the best strikers – they have an intensity, a seriousness. Darwin doesn't have this, he has the drummer gene that goalkeepers often have. Can Darwin be the first chilled out, funny world class striker? I can't see it to be honest but I'm more than happy to be proven wrong.

  18. Slot turned a 8 goal a season striker into 20+ goal a season striker ..
Now let’s see what slot can do with him .
    He’s improved yr on yr
Yes he’s missed chances but the system under Klopp and pep was more chaotic .
Slot’s will be more structured which should suit
    Nunez , Dom and gravenberch

  19. Who's upset Ste, he doesn't seem very happy or positive bless him? As for Nunez, I'm not sure he's ever going to be that consistent elite level striker we hoped for, but he's still very good & will most likely improve. He could also 😢really benefit from some more intensive 1-2-1 coaching & hopefully someone can teach him the offside rule too! Fingers crossed his English is improving as well.

  20. Paul I get you're a positive fan, as am I, but sometimes you just need to call it as it is. There's a difference between optimistic & deluded. Also, bobby's role & darwin's role is completely different, so to say "bobby couldnt dream of those numbers" is an asinine argument. That's like saying bruno could dream of Isak's numbers, their roles are not even the same lmao Your coping. The issue is Nunez averages 5 shots a game & he cant score, it's not that hard to sit there & be honest is it? JFC. Good on Ste for keeping it real.

  21. I'd keep Nunez and Gakpo as the CF

I would sell Diaz and Jota for Gordon and Bakayano

Keep Koumas and Danns in the squad for next season

    Loan out doak and gordon

  22. Sick of seeing the same stuff on him now, he threatens teams, he is a handful, he gets loads of chances …. What good is that is he doesn’t get the important ones, 2 seasons now . If he was at another club it’s unlikely we would be saying god let’s sign him

  23. I dunno, this “Darwin is Rubbish” criticism feels weird. He did alright this year, and in a rotation of 5/6 forwards, more than enough. Is it possible to just back the lad?

  24. Since when did our fan base turn into a bunch of moany fuckin bastards. Just non stop since like February
    Back your players ffs
How many other strikers have hit Darwin’s numbers this season? Not many

  25. I personally believe/hope Nunez could benefit hugely from Slot, our current method of attacking is so chaotic, players moving everywhere, no two goals look the same, chances can come from anywhere or anyone at anytime and clearly Nunez isn’t the best instinctive finisher, sometimes he can but not at a high enough percentage, all of our forwards are struggling to finish if we’re honest, even he great mo Salah, we are nothing like city in that regard who create the same chance for Haaland 5 times a game, consistency and structure could be key for Nunez and I believe, from What I’ve heard that is exactly how slot attacks, it’s structured and repeatable, it wouldn’t shock me if a couple of players explode next season, slot can’t say he hasn’t got any talent in the squad, hopefully he can utilise it.

  26. Hope Nuñez can leave that cold chicken chest team. He does miss, but i don't see them passing the ball. The teammates are holding the passes too much.
