Let’s not forget, Sargent was Berhalter’s guy for a while. He just never delivered. Now that he’s playing well, I think there’s a chance Sargent will be back.
Ferreira is thought of wayyyyy too highly. No idea exactly how he’s this obvious #1 striker when his appearances for the US have largely been a mixed-bag. He’s not even the best performing American striker in MLS, and we’re ready to name him the automatic starter? Pepi looked the better player in MLS in the same team!!!! Should be between Sargent, Pefok to start with the 3rd player being anyone from Pepi/Ferreira/Haji/Vasquez

No way can you start a MLS striker for the World Cup games with 0 European experience.
Classic out of touch Lalas, doesn't even mention obvious first choice Pefok.

The main reason why Sargent will start VS Wales is that GGG has already said that he wants to play high press, and Sargent is the best option at 9 to accomplish that task. Sargent was simply out of the picture due to lack of scoring form but that seems resolved at the moment, as WC camp starts in 2 months.
Honestly, for me, Ferreira is one of the last picks as a stater. Pefok, Vazquez, Sargent…heck, even playing someone like Aaronson at center forward is more appealing than Ferreira.

Even if Sargent cools down, Sargent is more than a hot hand he’s an all around better player than Jesus
Sargent misses one shot and all confidence goes down the drain. Ferreira all the way. He is not a head case.
