I thought “World Cup doesn’t determine GOAT status”…what’s there to settle? Apparently the Messi and Ronnie fans have woken up to the necessity of winning a World Cup. Makes me laugh. Once Messi is eliminated they’ll all go back to saying the World Cup means nothing.

The fact that this debate is ongoing is ridiculous. Messi is the Greatest Of All Time. It is not about getting that World Cup since it requires an entire team effort. Maradona and Pele time only required a very few players to be on their game. Today it's not just Messi doing everything, it has to be the entire team. Therefore, Messi is the GOAT based off of performance, consistency, stats and relevance. He has the Skill, IQ, Technique and Drive that many his age end up losing. Win or Lose, Messi will always be the GOAT.

A goal/assist machine, dribbling/ball control freak, freekick genius, playmaking magician and baller in tight spaces is not the best offensive player of all time ?
All the other great offensive players had one or more aspects where they were not insanely great like Ibra in dribbling, Ronaldo 9 in freekicks, Ronaldinho in goals, CR7 in playmaking.
