Awer Mabil is living out a childhood dream in the south of Spain. A Kenyan refugee who migrated to Australia as a youngster has had an incredible journey outside of football. So every moment of his professional career Awer Mabil is just learning to enjoy himself.
He spoke to us in Cadiz about his career so far and recent move to LaLiga, where he is the only Australian plying his trade in Spain’s top flight.

I was playing for Playford city in south Australia in 2012, and at half time, someone came onto the pitch and had a few shots at goal. I said to my teammate “who’s this guy?” .. he replied “that’s Mabil, he’s going to be a pro, you watch”
