I couldn’t disagree more. The reason Grealish was signed was obvious – he doesn’t lose the ball easily and he wins a lot of free kicks in dangerous areas.
I think in his final season with Villa he was right up top for ball retention/not losing possession and I think he was actually in first place for winning free kicks in the final third. And you can see when he plays that that’s what he was signed for. They don’t particularly care about goals or assists with him because it’s not really what they signed him for, it was to get possession high up the pitch, retain it, and at worst draw the foul
