The 39-year-old Brazilian, a mainstay of the Blues team that lifted the Champions League in 2021, revealed the news on social media. An emotional Silva spoke of leaving the door open for a return, ‘albeit in another role’ saying ‘goodbyes are for those that leave and don’t come back. I intend on coming back one day’. Silva has made 151 appearances for the club and also won the Fifa Club World Cup and Uefa Super Cup.
