Tottenham lost 4-2 against Liverpool last weekend, a result that almost guaranteed that Ange Postecoglou’s side will miss out on the top four this season.
So how did they concede four goals?
Jon Mackenzie spotted a pattern in each goal, where Brennan Johnson left Emerson Royal exposed.

What could have Ange Postecoglou done differently?
ANGE! FIX THIS BEFORE CITY.
This is why emerson royal seen struggling to defend in this match
Brennan Johnson what a player. Absolutely bang average
Change to 3-4-3. It provides optimum flexibility in both attack and defense with two midfielers moving either forward or backwards.
Emerson royal is the problem he actually watched salah behind him head the ball in the net with ease and made more mistake . Udogie is much better
Emerson Royal’s fault
It also doesn't help Spurs that Trent is the master at long passes.
Casuals were calling for Royale’s head not understanding how football is played.
How did they expect Royale to track all the runs of the offensive men of the opposition team when Johnson and none of the CM could give him a support in defense.
Yet the Sky punditry was solely blaming Emerson Royal, as if defending isn’t a team effort!
I stayed too long on this video just because of that background jam 😅😅
Beautiful analysis as always
Ange might not be a tactical mastermind Mate
we don’t have a back post problem, we have an emerson royal problem.
Its not just a back post problem, its a midfield pressure problem. Spurs outnumbered Liverpool for every Pool goal. Spurs were getting back, they just weren't organised. Sometimes there's no point getting back, and it's better just to manmark out the key creators. Every ball went over the top of the midfield.
Yes. They’ve been getting a post in the back for four weeks straight.
i guess you could say theyre taking too many back shots
