  1. Jim Everett thought he could use the idea of his physicality to get respect. The problem is, if you have no intention of getting physical, you’re forced to get physical when that doesn’t work. I think that’s what happened here

  2. Rome is lucky that Everett is a nice person, if it was a lineman of some sort his ass would have been handed to him. Everett should have picked up the table and throw it at Rome.

  3. If this happened today everyone would be calling athletes thugs but here’s a secret they are humans just like us it’s only so much someone can take especially when you’re playing with they’re name

  4. My respect went up for Jim Everett after this. Most people probably wanted to see Rome get a bit of comeuppance, and Everett didn’t disappoint.

  5. It’s hard to feel bad for Jim, Rome, I really do like him, but you insulting the man for the sake of insulting him and if he’s already let you know more than once he doesn’t appreciate it and you just keep doing it because you think there aren’t any consequences then you deserve the consequences

  6. As wrestling fans would say, I've always felt that this moment was a "work". Really, Rome said nothing crazy (his radio show at the time was far "edgier" especially for the sports genre), and Everett was aware of Rome's trash talk and still went on. Add in the lack of "hostile" energy between the two, and it looks completely staged.

  7. All the Millenial and Gen Z digital natives think it's fake because they are so used to everything being fake and done as clickbait. It wasn't fake. You can tell by how much Everett is stumbling over his words because he's so pissed. If it was rehearsed you would likely just notice bad acting.

  8. Give Jim Rome credit. He had Death Star-sized cojones back then, and he still does to this day.

Don’t get it twisted. Older and wiser doesn’t mean he’s lacking in testicular fortitude; he just pick his battles more carefully.
