Darwin Núñez has become a cult figure at Liverpool, but recent events have thrown his Liverpool future into question. Darwin Nunez could be on his way out of Liverpool.

He showed some frustration following their win over Spurs, and has had limited minutes of late as he has struggled to find the goal. All photos of him in Liverpool kits have been deleted from his instagram. But, has he really been that bad at Liverpool? Let’s look at his performances over his two seasons at Liverpool, and draw parallels to Darwin’s time at Benfica

  1. Liverpool were always going to struggle replacing mane and salah.
The 100m price tag on nunez just makes it worse. He is no where near liverpool quality. A 30-40m player at best.

  2. He never learns from his previous mistakes and you don't need player like him. At such a level, you learn from your mistakes and improve you are not taught basic things

  3. He is not going to come good. I'm sorry. Nothing against him as a human. We never would have bought him if genius Edwards was still in charge. I pray we sell him. Else next season it will be the same story.

  4. Liverpool fans at the stadium and most forums have supported him throughout, even though he has cost us points and sometime painful to watch. His name gets chanted very often when people see him struggling. Cant speak for the trolls and horrid fans online throwing abuse but its dissapointing to see him act this way. I think he has potential but like you said, if hes not hitting those great goals, then you're just left with the constant misses.

  5. Liverpool needs to hire a psycologist and a striker coach, and then Nunez will miss only 20 big chances instead of 40 per season. He will never be good enough and never was; the Benfica season was a fluke. He was a big fat mistake from Klopp and Linders; Michael Edwards will send him back to Portugal like he did with Benteke and Baloteli.

  6. First of all i condone any hate and threats being surveyed towards Nunez.
Now in to the criticism we paid 80 mil for a striker who will score goals and be a threat infront of goal.
    – He is lackluster in front of goal
    – 70% percent of the time he's offside
    – 90% of the time he misses his chances or fucking hits the woodwork
And people defending him be like "he brings chaos"what sort of argument is that if you want chaos sign Joey Barton or Balloteli.
    He's not Liverpool standard bottom-line
I feel for the lad but if you are not doing your job then why are you at the club anyway.
I would rather get rid of him and move on!

  7. i technically agree with everything you've said but removing 98% of Liverpool from your social media, even if you're getting some criticism… oooh I would not be happy about that one

  8. He needs to grow a pair. So he gets abuse from a small section of Liverpool fans, the rest of the fantasy have been supportive of him (even to the extent that they are willing to overlook the fact that Liverpool over spent on him).

  9. Darwin Nunez has the tools to become a great player but unfortunately he folds in the mold of Morata and Jesus. Great all round game but awful in scoring goals. I'm not a Liverpool fan but I don't think he's been awful this season considering he hasn't played badly amid his awful finishing. Is he the man to win the Premier League titles on a consistent basis? No but he'll be a great asset to have when he's in the zone.

  10. The problem is he was overrated when they bought him an expectations simply are too high. Darwin was a good player at Benfica, but not a 100 million player. When he arrived people compared him to Halland, and I guess many people expect him to still reach these hights due to his pricetag, which is just unfair…
I think he is performing pretty much as one could expect. A decent 9, but nothing special.

  11. on the one hand, this is much ado about nothing. on the other hand, i am embarrassed by the way some of my fellow Liverpool supporters love to drag him the moment he misses a chance but hold him up as the new Torres or Suarez when he does score. Honestly, it's shameful and upsetting because i don't see them getting on players of…European extraction they way they get on Darwin or now even Lucho. If i were a south american or african player, i would have once thought of Liverpool as a supportive fanbase to play for…but these days i would have doubts.

  12. I like Darwin & his G/A is decent-good. BUT His touch, timing, dribbling, airial dual winrate and finishing is all lacking. He also often falls over & is often off-side throughout games, so all in all that to equates to below expectation for a club that wants to be in the top 4 in the premier league.

  13. Hes a good player ; he's just not worth 90 mil or whatever they overpaid for him. He's clearly not world class and likely never will be. Too immature and low football IQ.

  14. This season, he had ZERO goal against Man City, Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs or even Aston Villa. He only managed score against big club is Newcastle.

  15. He gets into such good positions, is a constant threat, a nuisance. His work rate is unbelievable. If he can just time his runs a bit better and compose himself, he’s adding ten-fifteen goals a season to his tally.

He can be frustrating, especially in big games where the margins are so fine. I recently said when we were still in for the title and were top of the league, if him and Salah kept missing those big chances, it was going to come and haunt us. Then it did. More so with Darwin because some of his misses have been sitters.

I still love him though because he works hard and is entertaining. I can only see improvement. He just has to put the negativity out of his mind and knuckle down. YNWA.

  16. He’s just not it. Even when he was at Benfica. Many fans were blinded by his goal tally in his second season, but if you really watch him play, he lacks the quality to become a world class striker like a Kane, Lewandowski, Haaland, etc. He’s talented, but I don’t think he’ll reach that next level to be one of the greats.

  17. Should he deserve severe criticism? Yes. However, hateful speech are different stories.
Missing chances after chances, and every time he was on the field he brings chaos not to the opposition but to us. There’s a reason why Klopp dropped him twice in a row.
It was around the second half of our game against Everton that I was seriously asking myself if Danns is even better than a 75 million Darwin……

  18. While I can see the positive aspects of Darwin's game, I always found it weird how Liverpool fans describe him as chaotic as if that was a good thing. Missing empty net chances ain't good but sure is chaotic.

  19. Darwin is still the 2nd best player in Liverpool in terms of total xG, and 1st in xG by 90", meaning he's getting in those chances, contrary to the other players, who are not, besides Salah, who is also underperforming

  20. Iam not surprised with the bad comments about him from the fans coz even salah can’t escape from those toxic comments. One of the greatest players of their club’s history was being mistreated by many people

  21. Send this dumb Andy Carol 2 back to Portugal or Spain
.He cost us dearly. Can't score for his life
.Last year cost us top 4 and this year cost us the title. Awful player. One of the worst ever to put the famous Liverpool shirt .The biggest flopp ever .
