The USMNT got the job done and has qualified to the 2024 Copa America but the way we got there matters and it was not good.
After full a 3-0 win against Trinidad & Tobago at home, the USMNT took a 2-1 loss in the second leg.

I don't know they were so bad without Dest maybe his stock went up
It was clear with the goals that Pepi and Dest are used to playing with each other.
Missing Pulisic, Weah, and McKennie showed Gio needs to figure out how to be the guy!

I honestly thought Aaronson brought a good energy to the 1st match up in the first half. He just overdoes it and makes too many mistakes. Our team seriously lacks energy so I wouldn’t give up on Aaronson yet
The faster USA respect every opposition and stop making assumptions based on fifa rankings the better you all will be. Stop belittling opposition. You actually giving them fuel and motivation to embarrass you.

Plan B scenario discussion here was interesting and I appreciated it. But the real issue with Berhalter to my mind isn't scenario based. It's his ability to make adjustments to what's happpening in games not based on plans, but based on what's actually happening in the game. He can't read player performance in the moment, matchups, how the other team is trying to take advantage, and so forth. He can't read the game as it's being played. His planning is insufficient, yes, but the real issue is his ability to make adjustments not based on scenarios, but based on what is actually happening on the field. He just can't see it. And I honestly think it's an IQ thing, which is typical for American soccer.
I wonder how the "ggg gets the job done" crowd would feel if they went to a restaurant and was served a cold and disgusting meal. Would they complain like a normal person for the bare minimum effort and poor execution? Would they accept it and eat it happily because the restaurant got the job done? My guess is that they would be totally consistent with what theyve been saying about ggg
I know GGG tried a new tactic, but he also didn’t practice it out of secrecy prior to the game. That shows me how weak minded GGG is. He has the talent to steamroll T&T regardless of whether they know his formation or not. Why does he need to try to surprise them? He decided to practice the formation in a live game instead. This guy is beyond me.
Talking of toughness anmentality and having a Jermaine Jones type player. You’d think GGG would try to teach his gf kicking abilities to the guys so that if someone Fs up they can kick their ass into gear!
I’m so sick of people hating on aaronson but liking LDLT. Aaronson at least created chances and sparked things when he played. LDLT was just his typical form of awful. He’s the one that needs dropped not Aaronson, while admiring Aaronson is also on the bubble as parades and others develop or maybe kolesho commits. All that is based off a fully healthy roster
I definitely think in games like this we desperately miss Core guys like Pulisic, Weah, Mckennie, and Adams. Which is no excuse because we should be expected nest a team like T&T. But moving forward, those 4 are the key guys that send the standard in the Locker room. Adams i think is really missed in the locker room. He is vocal. He is intelligent. He is respected. And knows what to say and can do it with some intensity behind that pushes for that urgency. Its also one resson why i would take Jesse Marsch (even with his own tactical limitations) because he at least coaches with some emotion that players will feed off.
DEST's action was petulant, and unbecoming of a teammate…yes, all of that is true, but to fail to look at the bigger picture, fails to change the prevailing patterns.
The level of physical play he's encountered, with ABSOLUTELY NO SUPPORT from his, so called teammates… IS TELLING, IMHO.
Dest is being targeted… PERIOD.
The modern game "requires" a player of his talents, yet he's offered very little protection by his mates. He's coming under physical durest by OUR opponents, who sees his talents, and his important to OUR side yet, when the physical play is directed at him, there is no cover offered, either by his teammates, or the officials…so Dest is reacting for his OWN self protection; this match, as was the match vs. Mexico was no different, IMHO.
Going forward, GGG "MUST" create a better environment of trust and protection..he maybe incapable of such, (see Gio), but for this team to reach its potential, he must start there. They MUST BE rushing the officials to protest any physical play directed at him (Dest) or anyone else for that matter.
It must be stated, any physical play directed at any player MUST, and SHOULD require equal or more in return, especially if the officials are unwilling to impose sanctions, else this team will gain no respect from their opponents.
If I were the coach, I would have stated to the team…"no post match comments about Dest, outside of the locker room"…take the party line…
"…we deal with issues of this sort inside the locker room, not in the press"

Ream's post match comments are out of line, outside of the locker room; it shouldn't have been voiced publicly; IMHO…Captain or no!.
These guys are playing checkers and GGG is playing 3d chess.
